Improve how to visually tell who is speaking on a teams meeting
It is very hard in the current UI to tell who on a larger teams meeting is speaking at any given time. The visual treatment (blue circle around the person's icon) is hard to see move around.

This would be really really an important feature, really no matter how is implemented.
I am not thinking about a "picture focus" but I think more about something like: an icon beside the partecipant name in the partecipant list which is CLEARLY shown. Now I do not see it.
Important expecially for those 2 use case: (1) to know who is speaking even in meetings where you do not know eveybody (can not match name/voice by yourself) (2) to understand who is making background noise

Now that I can see others who are speaking, can I also have a cue that my own microphone is being picked up? It is very common for other users to be speaking and not know they are on mute and it is also common for my microphone to be muted (hardware mute while I am unmuted in the teams software). It would be really nice to see an icon of myself lighting up in blue/purple when I speak to know that my voice is being heard by the group.

I use MS Teams to deliver training to up to 24 people at a time...it's really hard to very quickly look for, find, then read the name of whoever just spoke and "turned blue" and if they aren't one of the lucky 9 with their camera feed displayed and are one of the dots along the bottom of the screen then only having 2 initials to try and work out their name is almost impossible. Can you have a "flash up" area in the top left that displays the name of the person talking? That would mean we only need to watch one area to ascertain who is talking :-)

The initials on the circle is hard to make sense of when there are more than 20 people. It should be the full name instead of just an initial.

This is especially difficult for large meetings!

My idea is for the icon of the person speaking to change colour, paricularly a high contrasting colour like red/orange

I agree, we are not able to find out who is talking in 20 user participation meeting.
It would be very useful if maybe much bolder/thicker circle around the person it would clearly identify the speaker at the time
Thanks

This is especially true for participants who are dialing in by phone and have no video feed.
