Keep the @ sign when you mention someone
It takes too much effort to format mentions in a helpful way. When I type "@Someone", it should:
1) Keep the @ sign in the front of that mention to help you visually identify that it's a mention
2) Just have the user's first name or a nickname rather than their full name. I know you can backspace to delete a last name, but that process doesn't flow well
3) Automatically put a space after you make the mention.
I usually would like to have my mentions look like:
@Greg can you please answer your phone?
@Tiffani @Josi is Greg here today?
Thanks for picking up the phone, @Brett
Yup, noticed this today when creating a Poll through Teams using Microsoft Forms. Everytime I would do @Forms it would create a link and remove the @, so I thought there was a problem.

Agree 110% on the @
Yes the @ sign should be kept. Many users don't understand how to mention and reply as they don't see the @ in other messages. Now we have to repeat to every user how to mention. Outlook keeps the @, and that's the right way IMO.
agree except for the automatic space after the mention part. Don't want something that automatically inserts characters into my typing rhythm.
