Translation on smartphone
On the desktop we have translation but not on mobile. Please can this be added as a function ?

We are happy to announce that chat translation is now available on iOS with latest update, version 2.0.13. To learn more, please visit: https://support.microsoft.com/office/translate-a-message-in-teams-d8926ce9-d6a6-47df-a416-f1adb62d3194#ID0EBBAAA=Mobile.
The team is working to make this available on Android as well, we will share an update as soon as it’s available.

Unfortunately this still doesn't work for Channel Conversations which is really unsatisfying :( I don't understand why it works for Chat messages, but not for channel messages. This can't make such a difference I would imagine?!

As of Oct 28 2020 I see this works for Chat, but not Conversations. Hopefully this is coming soon for Conversations. That's where all the real collaboration work is done.

I've checked and this is not even in v2.0.18. When is this actually coming? I use translation all day long but when working across timezones, the last thing I want to do it copy/paste into a translate tool and/or go back to my office to use the desktop version.

Just upgraded to 2.0.17 and it doesn't seem to work. Am I missing something?

Voting the need for this as well. during covid we have 10X the mobile use for a global company. Please update with any progress. This would make mobile at parity with core services on desktop.

Shocked this is taking so long, isn't the translation done on the cloud side? This just seems an issue of priority? My users are asking for it.

Hi, I've found workaround -> add Translate It! app to your teams and translate messages even on smartphone.
Link to the app -> https://teams.microsoft.com/l/app/b08f61be-a9e9-4528-8b09-37aeb595b0b3

Any update on when available. During current crisis this is an obvious feature that is missing. You could beat Facebook (Whatsapp) ti the feature

Translation on the iOS app is crucial!
The automatic translation option would be nice as well.

Can you be sure to make it so that the "shift notes" can also be translated on the mobile app! This is critical for a few of our users, since they are unable to "copy-paste" from shift notes to a translator, if they are not the "owner" of the shift. (Also, the copy-paste feature would be great to have for shift notes on mobile, but I'm sure that's for another thread). Thanks!

This is very important if not more important than having it on the desktop client and the reason is because the primary (if not the only) device for most first line workers is a mobile(phone/tablet/ipad) device and there's a large number of first line workers in many industries (hotel/construction/restaurant/etc.) where their first language may not be English. Therefore having the ability to translate messages on their mobile devices will add a huge benefit to increasing user adoption.

Especially important now that iPad OS is basically a laptop. This feature is heavily relied on in our company!!

If you want to attract International businesses in this modern day ALL desktop features should be on the mobile app too.

Users in our group love this feature on the desktop version and have commented on its absence in the mobile apps. Really useful for our international users.
