Guest registration for live events
We have trouble introducing the live events feature if not every attendee is known. A solution would be, that additionally to the live event option "organization wide (registration required)" potential external viewer could register for the event, similar to the "Guest" registration for a team. So we can invite internal and external users and ensure that every viewer is known with name and email.

Thanks for the comments and votes. This item remains on the team backlog and we will watch your votes and comments on this feature.

at the very least it would be good to enforce external users to provide their name. I appreciate this is not a watertight solution but most people are honest!

What's going on with this case? This is a very urgent need to implement this in MS Teams.

In order to compete with products like GotoWebinar etc Microsoft really need to allow for secure guest pre-registration and unique user joining links. Otherwise companies like mine have no way of monetising a webinar event as anyone with the link could join the vent anonymously. Our company has really made use of Teams for telephony as well as 'Team Meetings' I would love us to be able to use it to deliver public webinars was well so our whole user experience is in one platform, but for the time being we need to stick with GotoWebinar

Definitely would like to see registration and event reminders(ie like 2 weeks and 1 week out remind attendees that it's coming)

I wish to see this feature to be able to capture attendee registration for a Teams Live Event released ASAP in 2021. Please commit on a date

Is this not now in progress? I thought it was announced last year:

"...we will watch your votes and comments..." This suggests that if there are not enough votes it might not be moved to a higher priority. I can't imagine that this wouldn't be an obvious win for Microsoft to move its customers away from their competitors. For me, it's a no-brainer...if I have the ability to manage registration for a Live Event (Webinar) then I drop Zoom in a heart beat.

Thank you for the update. Our organization is currently shopping for a solution to hold our product demonstrations and webinars. Teams is not currently in the running because of the complexity with getting external people registered and able to access the content easily.
If you're looking for more business cases to support this feature, consider that many companies are legally required to prohibit embargoed countries from attending training and sales demonstrations as part of normal export compliance. So we can't use "public" as a permission option. If we could force registration, our organizers could audit and verify attendees before an event and we could at least show some effort of due diligence on the matter.

We are using Live Events since june 2020, and the most two problems that our events responsible tell us are the ability to know who are connect to contact later. Users are so unsatisfied with that.

This is along with stats of participation is the only reason we still use gotowebinar.

Just tried a live event with external guests pre-approved in our aad.
They got a message that they didn't have permissions to view, but the meeting was org wide.
I had to remake the event on the fly as public, which I hated because it had to be secure, and shared out the link to our guest list. The problem we had is resharing the link and being able to join anonymously.
We're shopping around for an alternative to teams now because of this misunderstanding.
Please let us enroll event guests that are external to our systems.

We need to have an attendance record of who attended our presentation in order to give continuing education credits. If this feature is not available, we will have to look elsewhere.

that would be extrem cool and needed feature. Our Club has over 1000 Members only in Switzerland worldwide multiple 10'000 Members and during covid it would be great to easy setup digitalmeetups

Agreed with the below comment - we use Teams as an organization but I am forced to hold our live events on WebEx because we are not able to receive full attendee reports via Teams Live Events AND have to set up a separate registration page via a platform like Eventbrite to even get a registration list. Seems like a pretty big gap for folks wanting to host external events via Teams. I don't see how it's very useful outside of large internal organizational meetings currently.

Please make this happen! Like the other 2278 people who voted for the ability to register guests, I am greatly disappointed that this is not a feature of Teams, forcing me to consider Zoom or other products.

Hopefully this is moved off the backlog soon. If development is restarted, please review the features Zoom currently offers for their webinar platform. They are much further ahead than the simple guest registration feature. It would be beneficial to have email and sms reminders prior to the event and email follow up after the event. Surveys immediately after the event would be helpful as well. Currently we are able to redirect the Zoom attendees to a MS Forms survey immediately after the Zoom event. In other words, for those of use who would like to use Live Events for marketing purposes, we need to take care of our attendees/leads before, during and after the event.

In a Teams Live event if there is a Mechanism for Anonymous Users to Give Some Bare Minimum details as Name, Email Address or Contact No. That will be a great help for the Organizers.

Our team has had to resort to using competing products (Zoom, On24) for large customer-facing events several dozen times this year because there's no registration option for Teams Live Events. Company-wide, this is probably hundreds if not thousands of events. We would love to use Teams for these events, but it's simply not possible right now.
