Home tenant Telephony and Chat available when working in guest tenant
We are a company that implements MS UC solutions and provided change management for those solutions.
Our consultance are working for multiple customers and are often added to the customers Teams projectteam. When working in those tenants all calls to that users cloud telephony number don't show on the users client, because the focus of Teams is switched from our home tenant to the guest tenant.
Same goes for chat.
Chat is only available for the tenant your working in. if you want to chat with someone from your own organisation, or pick-up a chat where you left off you have to switch tenant.
Can does two capabilities be always available regardless of which tenant your focussed to?
It's braindead of microsoft anyway.... this tenant switching...
Having the same issue. Have added partner users as AD Guest for Teams access in my tenant... that's working great. However, ad hoc chat messages now sent to Guest user sit idle in my tenant context unseen until they happen to switch tenants in their team client. This also seems to manifest in their inability to call me from their tenant context... though perhaps that is due to settings on either side.

Having to change tenants to use the features of Teams is the primary reason we have been slow to deploy to our clients. They are not going to think to switch to our tenant to check to see if there is anything worth looking at -- they need to be proactively notified to look (and the little number above the tenant switch is not it). They need to get a banner that says a message has come in, or an @mention is there -- or there is other activity in a channel they are following. Without this, the collaboration promise falls way short.
It would be good if your home tenant functionality is always available no matter the tenant you are switched to. Missing phone calls and msg's when connected to a guest tenant is a major issue.

Calling needs to stay locked to your home tenant:
Multi-Tenant/Guest experience in Teams is clunky and awkward when flipping Tenants from Home Tenant to Guest Tenant for just the Collaboration/Groups workload.
Tenant Flipping is FATAL to your current call, however, if you flip tenants while in a call or in a meeting: teams will drop your call-in-progress HARD, silently, with no warning. Call is just GONE. No warning, no error message, no notification to the caller or meeting you've just exited. And you have to wait 2 minutes to switch to the guest tenant fully, then switch back to your home tenant, then call the person back.
This is entirely unworkable if, for example, the person calling you wants you to look at something in their tenant, in which you're a Guest user. Contrast this with their current experience: If I click away to look at your email in Outlook when I'm on a Skype call, I'm fine. Click away from my call-in-progress in Teams to look at your post in the Guest Tenant (working in the "new way of working" we're promoting as THE Teams experience, mind you...) and Teams will hard drop the call instantly.
We need a LOT of focus on the multi-tenant/guest experience.
Services like Calling should stay locked to your Home Tenant,
Meetings-in-progress should continue during a Tenant switch from Home to Guest,
If I'm joining a new meeting, the meetings workload should shift to the Tenant in which the meeting is hosted, but my calling workload should stay with my home tenant.
