How can we make Microsoft Teams better?

Add "What's happening today?" Status

Skype for Business has a "What's happening today?" custom status under their name which users can write custom messages such as "Teleworking" or "At Lunch". Teams should have this also.

This would help a great deal in knowing how to interact with team members, and when to expect them back online.

In addition to being fun, it also serves a business purpose: e.g., telling people where you are within the building if you're not in your usual workspace but are reachable. You can also give more nuanced insight into your availability: for instance, you might not be as extreme as "do not disturb", but you're in the zone and would prefer not to be interrupted--and with custom statuses (and emojis!) you could communicate that.

We use this feature (What's happening today) in SFB a lot. Workers update their presents status every morning.
    Should be implemented in Teams!

The ability to create Custom Status is an important one especially when using TEAMS on the PC versus Mobile. There should be an ability to create multiple custom status...

Skype was much better than Teams in multiple areas, including the ability to add a custom status. Please add in Teams so we don't have to go backwards as much as we currently are with Teams.

+1 for custom status. our team works remotely and use having this feature would seal the deal for us to move our primary chat app to teams since we'd be able to get rid of our current in/out board

Agree +1 for custom status (care less about emojis/emoticons). For those of us that work from various locations it's nice to be able for our team to know if we're onsite or working remote, that's generally how I used the custom status in S4B before.

Ability to have custom status like Skype for business allowing others to see where you are or what you’re doing. The basics are not enough.

Yuck. Fun is a matter of opinion, and one persons fun may well be another persons annoying. Just make it so that we can turn off the automatic status changes before you go about doing something that adds no actual value to the product...

I agree. Mood message feature has social and productivity benefits.

  • RJ commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

yes, agreed, is this feature being implemented?

Custom Statuses are one of the top 5 features we need desperately now the SfB has been ripped from us by Microsoft. I came in one day and that functionality was gone and not replaced in Teams.
We need unlimited custom statuses with inactivity timeout and easy editing. It seems like such an easy thing to do. Why wait until the last minute. Please, Please, Please!

YES Absolutely, this would be a great feature to have!

Custom statuses are available in every other IM app I've used. However, I don't think the "fun icons" are important. My vote is for custom statuses with or without icons ;)

We use this feature to alert team members when we are working on campus vs. working remotely. This should be in Teams!

I need to be able to set a custom status to tell my team exactly what I am working on
