Multitasking tabs
Add tabs to the top or bottom for switching between multiple documents that are open simultaneously. Add the ability to drag the tab out to an open window, so that we can see two documents side by side. The way IE or Chrome handles this is intuitive and effective.
Currently, I'm stuck to working on one document at a time. This causes me to not use teams nearly as much since I cannot effectively multitask.

I agree... Teams has made multitasking impossible. I am constantly losing my place in files. if you switch to a chat window you have to start over in locating the file you were working on within teams. and if you are working a doc and need another file in teams to reference for content.... well, you have to download one or put everything in the mode of opening through the app. Problem is, the system doesnt like a lot of files open through the app at once and starts getting unreliable or more likely to have an error. very frustrating

Why is it so complicated to get a proper UI in Teams? The popping out chats is a joke and is useless (the one linked below). If you have a chat popped out and someone messages you and you click the notification, it just opens their chat in the main Teams window, so now you have their chat open twice. Real efficient.

Switching from a working document to a chat or task or some other activity means you lose your place and have to navigate back....This is very much needed!

This isn't multiple windows/instances as I read the link. This is just tabs like IE/Chrome/Firefox have implemented so that we can switch between multiple documents quickly. We still need multi-monitor support.

The request to split out into multiple windows is a common one. See also https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16926739-multi-window-for-chats-and-more
