Ability to Mute a Conversation Thread
Please allow the ability for individual users to mute replies to a thread they have participated in. Allow this to be a toggle located under the three dot menu or an additional hover button.

Muting of conversation threads is available to the public. Just like muting a chat, turning off notifications to a channel conversation will stop you from receiving updates for that specific conversation.
To turn off notifications for specific conversations
- Go to the beginning of a conversation in a channel
- Go to the top right corner of the original message in the conversation thread and select More options … > Turn off notifications.

This is very much needed. Sometimes I'll respond once to a particular conversation, but the conversation continues on for 40-50 messages. Would love to be able to choose to just mute responses to a particular conversation that is no longer of interest.

How about if Teams recognized Focus Assist in Windows 10. If I am in Focus mode, Teams should get muted.

I'm really surprised there's not more support on this one, but I guess you kind of need a busy channel with a couple runaway threads to really appreciate it. :) I would echo Nathan Jamison's response as well, such as to mute notifications for 10 min, 30 min, etc. based on what's needed. Thanks!

This should be an improvement focus on the next release. The banners are very distracting when you have different Team Channels setup. An option to only provide a banner popup when you are mentioned is a valid solution.

This. This. A thousand times this.
Honestly, one of the reasons that my organization has some challenges with adoption is that once people are looped into a thread, they are basically spammed with so many notifications that don't apply to them that they start to ignore the threads all together.Giving them a way to turn off the notifications, especially when they are only pulled in for a single reply or a short time would be a huge win.

Any ETA on a release for this?

@Gordon Are you telling me that if someone @mention's you in a thread, you continue to get notifications for all responses to that? That's awful!

Man, this is embarrassing. @Admin, can't you outsorce it on fiver? Bet you have it done in a couple of hours. Cheers mate!

Adding in, I would like a range of timing options. 10 minutes to 24 hours since our teams group chat gets rolling but not everyone is at work so it just makes my phone go crazy.
10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, 8 hours, 24 hours, mute until user manually reactivates notifications.

The scenario for me has been when there's a chatty thread I don't care about in a channel I follow. By following the channel, I get notified for every reply in the thread even though I never participated in the thread myself. It's super distracting. Unfollowing the channel isn't a good option in this case because there are a lot of other posts I do need to be notified for.

Please!!! The noise is distracting but unfollowing the channel isn't a viable option.

This is especially important when there is a threaded conversation on a tab or document which goes on for a LONG time (life of the tab/document), but it is no longer relevant to you. Please implement this, pretty please!!

Completely agree, typical situation being:
Genuine conversation started > user responds to the conversation > another user adds a joke/witty comment about the conversation > it descends into "chat" that each person that commented then gets notified of the "chat" comments.
Teams needs the ability to "unfollow" unless you are @ mentioned again in the thread.

Since Teams is getting too active, I reply once to a thread, I would like to mute it. Similar mute controls of WhatsApp, messenger, Facebook posts.
