Block Team owner from changing Team name
Block the Team owner from changing the name of the Team. Only Admins can change the name of the Team.

As Teams is now also used globaly by education institutions, microsoft has to set focus on the education market needs.
Restricting is for educational use a must to keep things working for ALL users.
This is a must to keep communication clear for all users with organisation naming conventions stay in place.

Even something as small as not applying a Group naming policy *unless* the user changes the name in Teams would be a massive help.
We have a Group naming policy that appends (UserCreated) to any Group/Team created by end-users. When we administratively create a Group/Team, it is to keep that tag off the name and keep it "official".
If I as an admin create a Group called "HR Managers", the owner of the Group can go into Teams, change the picture, and Teams has retroactively applied our Group naming policy even though the user did *not* change the name.. So now the Group/Team is named "HR Managers (UserCreated)".
This behavior is bonkers-- Outlook does not do this with Groups, so Teams should not do it either. I can clean this scenario up occasionally and programmatically with Powershell, but I shouldn't have to.

We definitely need this to ensure that our naming conventions remain intact.
Have requested this many times on Twitter feed, so much hassle when a Teacher decides to change a name as they think they own it, nightmare for Admins to revert back. It's about time Microsoft did something about this

I absolutely agree! This is a major issue especially when you try to enforce naming policies !

We really would like to see this feature.

+1. This is an essential feature. Please make it possible to limit it to only Admin, require admin approval, or anything better than the current limited option of either set them to owner or not.

Essential not just for Teams management but for continuity, control, and reporting.

This would be very helpful for managing pre-populated academic Teams
This is important as renaming Teams, disconnects the email and SharePoint URL, causes them to be different. Then if you rename the SharePoint site to match, it breaks the connection of the General files in SP and you can't get it back. Causing issues in the organization.

A problem for us too
Same reason as all the others: enforce naming conventions

This is a very important issue. We are unable to enforce our naming convention. Teachers keep changing the name of their teams. Please add this feature quickly !
Admins need that control.
+1 for this. We also need to enforce naming convention.
Having teachers able to change the name of the Teams Class is an issue.
With Covid-19 and distance learning, we also had to fast track implementation of Teams for Teachers/Students.

+1 for this. Due to COVID-19 and distance learning, we fast-tracked the implementation of MS Teams. Trying to enforce naming conventions is impossible, when teachers can change the name of their class Teams at any time.
