ability to move new message to be a child of the previous message
The most frequent mistake made in our usage of Teams channels is that everyone will eventually post a new message when they intended to reply to the latest message. Even those of us that have made the mistake before will make it again.
It would be great if there was an option against a new message to associate it with the previous message. This would save any hassle of removing the message and reposting it as a child of the previous message.

This is a very common request. The most popular thread discussing the problems with the threaded chat UI is"Hide the reply button under every message" (https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16925779-hide-the-reply-button-under-every-message), which was declined by Microsoft.
Before and since then, the problem of the chat UI not conforming to people's expectations has come up numerous times. My contribution can be found at https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/34571029-improve-ui-for-threaded-conversations
Even if MS persist in using a chat UI which actively tricks people into starting new threads, they should at the very least give the user some way of rectifying that mistake.
