Mark message as read directly from notifications.
We send/receive a lot of short messages that can be read in their entirety from their notifications. Since there's no way to mark a message as read directly from the notification, we basically have to dismiss the message "twice": clear the notification itself and then click into the desktop app to clear the red unread badges. It would be great time/click saver if there were a way to mark a message as being read directly from the notification itself.

I agree! The orange icon on my taskbar drives me insane!!

Yes, we should be able to x the toast notification popup and have that matched in the toolbar un-read item count. It's a hassle to have to also bring the app into focus to clear the toolbar being held up.

Any update?

this seems like a must, should not have to open the full app to dismiss the message,

Yes! I strongly support this idea. Having to open the chat window just to mark a message as Read takes up too much time. Ignoring an unread message results in the Notification button flashing in the task bar.

Request for this feature has been here from more than 2 years now. This should have been the first feature that they need include in their next release.

Yes. This feature is very useful. And also if you guys can remove the minimization of the emoji tray after selecting 1 emoji that would be very helpful. In the current state if you want to select 2 emojis, you would have to open the tray twice. Thats just unnecessary.

Agree this would be useful. I'd also like to be able to add a reaction from the notification pane.
I'd alike to be able to perform simply actions from the notification window. If it worked in a similar way to the hover in the chat window with a few options available from the notification window that'd be ideal, as you wouldn't have to go into Teams to simply acknowledge receipt of a message.

I also support this request.
You could also combine it with the "like" button. So if I like something (or even respond to) directly out of notifications the message could also be marked as read. Or there's a setting to configure it that way. -

I'd like to have this possible not only for chat messages but any kind of activity (e.g. new topic on a channel or mentions).
Current situation: Someone wrote a short message on a channel. I received popup with the message, new activity indicator is added to Teams. I aknowledged the message and dismissed notification popup. The new activity indicator needs to be removed manually but reading the message again in Teams.
Wanted situation: Someone wrote a short message on a channel. I received popup with the message, new activity indicator is added to Teams. I aknowledged the message and dismissed notification popup. I could've choose "Hide popup" button but I've clicked "dismiss" button, so the new acitivty indicator is gone and notification associated with message is automatically marked as read in Teams.

Couldn't agree more. (The "mark as read", not the "like".) It's a standard feature on smartphones' SMS notifications. Please add "mark as read" feature to Microsoft Teams' banners. I'd vote for this again and again if I could. Thanks.

If you could switch "like" for "mark as read" that would be awesome.
