Highlight or color code Teams
When users are members of multiple teams it's easy to click the General channel of the wrong Team. There is little visual distinction between the Teams on the left navigation bar. Highlighting, color coding, or simply filling the area around the team tile with the theme color would help be a huge help.

color coding folders would be a wonderful addition. I would be nice to make a visual distinction between folders that contain high, medium and low priority projects

Colors would allow grouping and simplify search efforts. Time is important and having things in list format, doesn't always make it easy to find exchanges (conversations, groupings, references, or files) quickly. Especially because you cannot set your preferred default. For example, since I am normally searching from newest to older - this is the default I would preset. -- I realize it only saves a second but it's a setting that I'd like to have retained as it's my preference and I'm never looking for oldest first and sometimes alphabetical doesn't help.

Agreed it's very easy to start a new conversation in the wrong team. The active team should be highlighted (channels are already highlighted)
Color-coding/tagging files would also be a welcome change. This would support confidentiality attempts, allow me to color-code by person ("Karen, see the yellow files") and allow me to color-code by priority or category to keep that large string of files that everyone contributes to better organized.

Option to color code channels as well please
Is there a way to do this yet? I have many channels within my TEAM and color coding would make a difference

I have received this request from employees as well. I will be following.
Happy to see this as a top priority for others as well!

Please add color highlighting option for channels on the sidebar. It would be great to see different project priority hierarchy based off colors. This is an absolute must have.
New to Teams (ex Lync and SfB) and under Chat > Contacts, I'm finding the multi-coloured balls display of my Team/s is too busy. Too many colours going on. Was someone at MSFT on acid when they thought the coloured balls was a good idea?....The tiny status indicator is also too small for my liking especially when the interface is zoomed to include a few more members displayed. Preference would be to allow the main icon ball colour to reflect the status (a-la-lync) or as mentioned elsewhere here, be able to normalise the colours across team or organisations.

If we could set the color of the team icon that gets displayed in the sidebar list, that might be helpful. Keep it consistent across the organization, devices, etc

A common request. Any kind of visual distinction between views would be useful, for some people at least. Microsoft seem to be opposed to the idea that we should have control of our own workspace.
"No options" is not an option.
