Empower developers -- make Teams useful for professional developers
Teams is VERY unfriendly to professional developers. As an example: we were recently forced off of an Atlassian product and on to Teams. At first, great enthusiasm. Then everyone returned to the Atlassian product. Eventually, the Atlassian product was removed. Everyone was again forced on to Teams. Within a month, it is difficult to find anyone using Teams. And everyone tried. We're Microsoft developers, believe me we tried. No chat is better than Teams. Think about that for just a minute.
First problem: the UI violates ALL rules for communication. It is all noise and very little signal. I recommend at least an introductory course in Information Theory (originally called Communication Theory). Teams displays very little information on the screen compared to the amount of bright colors and wasted space. Seriously, 45 minutes on Khan Academy will help a great deal understanding how people communicate and what causes communication to break down. Teams is detrimental to communication. This is an actionable suggestion.
And, there is an existing suggestion here that is clearly no longer followed by Microsoft: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17408641-please-create-a-professional-compact-chat-layout
Finally, "empower developers": remember that these 20 and 30 year old develoeprs are the Microsoft recommenders. And, within a few years will be decision makers. It is a daily battle to select Microsoft products versus all the other choices. If you really mean "empower developers", then provide a professional layout for Teams.
