Contacts as default rather than Recent
The new contact list is a great addition and I believe that for some it will be used more than the recent conversations tab. So I think an option to set it as default or having Teams remember which one was used last would be a good idea.

This is definitely a feature I would want to see. The lack of this feature is one of the reasons I still use SfB as my go to chat tool and will only fully embrace Teams when i am forced to by my Company. I was excited today when I discovered I could choose Contacts vs Recent Chats. I was disappointed to find that Teams Chat reverted back to Recent when i returned to Chat from a different part of teams.

I reiterate that this behavior was much better in Skype for Business! Why take those options away?

In addition to Contacts as default, would like to sort by contacts status with Available status at the top of the list and ability to switch back to sort by names alphabetically.

I find that I use Teams far less often than I used to use Skype. Now the window just stays closed, and this is the main reason why - please allow us to set the Contact List as a default view. A list of recent conversations is rarely useful.

Please make this a feature.

When I want to start a chat I want to see a list of contacts, not a list of my last conversations. Reviewing conversations is not my normal reason for opening chat.

continues to be a problem. Microsoft step up and correct this omission. We want to see our contact list, not historical conversations from meetings long over.

Contact should be the default view like a normal voice/video chat, like it is it a major design fault

Ditto, would much prefer defaulting to Contacts than Recent

Folks who prefer to work from a Contacts view in Chat rather than the current default Chat view would benefit tremendously from this small option were it to be implemented it could also help ease transitions from other platforms such as Skype that offer such a default view

It would be nice to have the option to configure chat to show contacts by default in stead of history.
When you join a lot of vidco's, the history is overwhelmed with chats from those vidco's, while i'm in general just trying to get in contact with someone when opening the chat app. Only secondarily i'll try to find some historical chats, if this was not a personal chat.
Also, expansion/collapse of groups should be kept the way you left it last time you exited the screen (even after restarting teams).

I would also prefer to list my contacts by default... Can you please enable this setting... along with keeping groups collapsed if that is how there were before you moved away from the contact tab.

Our corporation would also like to see the option to default to this. Please allow contact or recent default view option

I know this is old and not sure if there is a new one. But I'm starting to prefer my contacts list more than the Recent lists. It looks less cluttered and also doesn't show the last conversation sentence which is sort of a privacy concern.

Teams should just remember the last-selected between "Recents" and "Contacts".

It would really be great if they found a way to bring CONTACTS and RECENT tabs into one. Contacts at the top and recent below it.
Otherwise you end up bouncing between the two tabs (Recent & Contact) Many times your contacts are also in your recent so you end up having duplicated conversations threads on either view.

The state of your UI should be much more configurable, and it should remember the state between invocations.
