Allow users to disable webcam by default
Every meeting I join, Teams turns on my webcam and suggests I join with it enabled. This is not the way that anyone I work with wants it to work, and a departure from Skype behaviour as well. Making the setting sticky would be great.
PLEASE add a setting to allow users to set the camera default to OFF. It doesn´t have sense,
PLEASE add a setting to allow users to set the camera default to OFF. It nerves to disable it every time
Same problem external monitor and Logitech webcam Brio not recognised by Teams. Only the laptop integrated webcam. Can choose usb headphones.
PLEASE add a setting to allow users to set the camera default to OFF!!! This is insane having a camera automatically turn on when you join a meeting. Almost nobody at my company uses their camera in our meetings, and they have recently migrated everyone from Skype to Teams. As someone mentioned in a previous comment, it is a deviation from Skype behavior, so this behavior is catching a lot of people off guard, and it is a huge privacy issue, especially with so many people working from home home during the global pandemic. Not to mention all of the network infrastructure upgrades that had to be done simply to allow so many people the ability to work from home. I'm not sure those upgrades took into account Teams forcing video calls by default. Besides that, not everyone lives in a location where high speed internet is available.
Try opening a Teams web link using Edge browser, it prompted me for allowing audio and video and then my camera was recognised in the thick client Teams
please sort this out, it is a privacy violation. The fact this request was declined previously by TEAM product group is very disrespectful and ignorant, tells you their personal preference comes before their customer.
Since when did privacy, bandwidth and security requirements become a thing for MS to decide on?
Does anyone from Microsoft reply to these messages?
We have an increasing number of people that are reporting issues with Webcam not working in Teams.
We have started migrating to O365, and are relatively new to Teams (last 4 weeks).
Microphone works in Teams. Camera works in Zoom and Win 10 Camera app.
Tried reinstalling Teams, tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Win 10 Camera app. Uninstalled, reinstalled, updated camera drivers. Nothing seems to work.
I note that the Camera Privacy Setting for Desktop apps does not show Teams in there. I found a way to manually add it there with a registry change, but camera still does not work.
If we use third party software such as YouCam, the camera works in Teams using this software. But its clunky for the user and not ideal.
Has anyone got any suggestions? We will probably end up raising a ticket with Microsoft under our support contract, but it would be good to resolve before that stage. My last attempt is to recreate the users profile. Never a fun thing for the user though.
Agreed - look at what is offered by Webex and GotoMeeting (in fact GotoMeeting is off by default from initial installation)
The device settings for meetings are woefully inadequate.
None for video/audio mute, none for background (you literally have to be live in a meeting to be able to set a background), and Teams has a huge number of other missing settings.
Look at the difference between Zoom video settings and MS Teams (the image in the Zoom settings is my background for a live video - which can be any image or video):
I agree that ideally there would be a setting that I can change to default off, but sticky would also work
Please make a default setting for camera always default off or always on by default, not last used setting. I'm having to put tape over my camera to get around this because I don't trust Teams. Major privacy violations here!
agreed, and if MS does not want to have a global default, allow users to set their own default BEFORE they join the first meeting.
I had to start using client's Teams, when they were scared about the ZOOM thing, not a great intro to Teams: realizing halfway through a call that you are broadcasting. Not a situation I will risk to put my clients in.

This is a privacy breach for this solution. I do not understand why the other entry was declined. As somebody said, from now on I will have to tape my camera by default for work.
Using Teams as a web app (in Edge Chromium browser) as it is MUCH faster than the desktop app. In desktop app though I can choose my professional webcam instead of the cheap one attached to my laptop. Unable to do that with web app. Google Meet - a strictly web app - allows the selection of my webcam. I don't want to use a slow desktop app, prefer web-based. So until Microsoft solves this, I'm sticking to Google Meet for my video meetings.
Anyone solved the problem with C615 camera and TEAMS? My TEAMS recognizes the camera but it doesn't show my video. Really annoying.
Same problem here, OBS Virtual Cam does not show as a device in Teams. It does, however, show in Zoom as a device so I imagine it is installed correctly.
Anyone had to change settings within Teams to get this to work?
I'm having a problem with OBS Virtual Cam as well. I'm using an external monitor and keyboard so the integrated webcam won't work. I set up the virtual webcam and it works in Zoom, but only the integrated camera shows up in the Teams list
i have the same problem as Carel - I'd prefer to use my DeX and have a webcam connected by usb. Would there be a way in which I could do so?
should be an option to set a default setting for video and audio on/off when joining a call.
Did you get your PS3Eye camera to work with Teams?
