Add SMS capabilities
Add Texting Capabilities to Mobile numbers. Since Teams is becoming my phone and integrated with my Dynamics CRM ... it would be awesome to add SMS capabilities to mobile numbers in my contacts.
Not everyone wants to load the Teams client to their phone. This would be a huge customer support and sales feature.
We are a retail law firm. Many of our clients do not respond to voice mail or email but will respond to text. Our current Phone system 8x8 supports TEXT/ SMS we need this functionality prior to migrating to Microsoft Business Voice.

We're considering Teams as an 8x8 replacement that this is the one thing holding us back.
There are many requests for it too:
Please add texting capabilities to Business-Voice. If it won't be available I'll have to switch to another carrier.
Please add texting capabilities as we use O365 and Teams as our communications platform. I call clients and prospects on my Teams phone, and I expect to be able to text them as well (and they expect to be able to text me too). Some folks won't answer phone or email, but do reply to texts. This does seem like a no-brainer. Please add!

We are literally waiting to move to teams voice based solely on adding this feature. MS Business voice /Teams voice has everything we need/want EXCEPT sms for unified business comm platform. This is a must for clients to have capability to communicate with us.
Microsoft. Please give an answer on this. In the pipeline, never going to happen etc. Some answer. We've seen in the trial account on Teams Admin reporting section an SMS report. Does this mean it's coming or not?
Any answer is better than no answer! Thank you!
Let SMS die already! It's 25 years old. It doesn't support rich communication or read receipts. 2020 indeed. It time to adopt a better modern texting standard. Push/toast notifications would be a bigger improvement.

And I am also confused as to why anyone would ask why this is needed. It is 2020, people text each other. Having it integrate into my Unified Communication platform that also handles my phone, video, chat, etc... is a no brainer.

I am completely befuddled as to why this doesn't exist. No I don't want some expensive extension that allows anyone to text out as the business. I want to send and receive text messages through my Teams VOIP number. It is a replacement for having a second cell phone and is necessary to separate business and personal info on my device.
I just ported my number to Teams from Google Voice for Business and realized that this is not available. What a disaster.
Microsoft is leaving a lot of revenue on the table from organizations that would transition from other expensive VoIP providers if this feature was available
Please add SMS notifications for shift workers.
on behalf of all Danish general practitioners I can confirm that we need the function to invite to video meetings by sending SMS - otherwise the system confrere.com soon will be the preferred videosolution - I guess Norway and Sweden will say the same

Dear Microsoft, We have implemented O365 Teams calling in our organisation and sending SMS messages to mobiles from teams would make our jobs much easier and will allow greater level of communications through our organisation and this functional will encourage other organisations to move to O365 teams calling system. Looking forward to this function or feature to be enable soon
heyyy, I have 200 users waiting for this, is incredible such a company like Microsoft dosent have yet this service, I want to buy 200 office 365 license + phone systems + calling plan and I'm in stop fase only for this feature

So.. just in case anyone was wondering about some mystical reason for the delay, as far as I can tell, there's not. Microsoft uses Bandwidth.com, probably the most popular voip carrier, carrier for RingCentral, Jive, Republic Wireless. There's no excuse for Microsoft to not have sms.

This is literally the one feature in Teams and/or Skype for Business that my users complain about the most.

This little gem popped up in documentation a few weeks ago:
"In the Assign product licenses pane, select Microsoft 365 Business Voice with SMS."
Clearly something is being worked on. Not sure why they can't give us a timeline for our own planning purposes...
Can we get an update on this? I've been using Phone System for a couple years as a primary business line. I would really like to interact with my customers from one identity.
SMS the first option everyone uses to start communicating with others add Texting Capabilities to Desk phones and mobile devices. Since Teams is becoming a company phone and integrated with Teams, it would be very helpful to add SMS capabilities to Desk phones and mobile devices.

I'd love to move my organisations phone systems to Teams but not having the ability to recieve SMS will mean lost business. Is anyone at Microsoft listening? Pretty pease get this added for us!
just delving into Teams calling and UC and was ready to Push the teams idea, but not having texting to people who are outside the org (for appt confirmations, etc) is def going to make it a hard sell.
