Since the update during the week of May 7, 2018, every time I join a meeting, my system volume gets adjusted to be extremely high, which is highly uncomfortable with headphones.
Previously, the volume wasn't adjusted at all. Please restore it to this state.
The global volume automatically increasing to 20 is now fixed. If you are changing the Teams app volume you may still have an issue.
Thanks for your feedback. Please let us know if you are still having issues.
Still an issue, volume to 100%
Same issue as described by the many, many users below ... the speaker volume is extremely high when joining meetings, and I need to quickly go to speaker settings to adjust. Need to use headphones while WFH, so each time i go into a meeting my ears are ringing. Please make a volume control that works or is easier to access than going through multiple steps....
This is still an issue.
I have to adjust my volume to 1% but it still very loud.
App volume inside of volume mixer automatically adjusts to match the device volume at the start of every call.
I.E. If I set the device (speakers/headphone) volume to 20% and my Teams app volume to 5%, the Teams app volume automatically goes to 20% at the start of incoming or outgoing call.
This is extremely frustrating. Why have a volume mixer in windows if the apps can override your changes? Please fix!
I am having the same issue. I adjust the app volume down, and it resets to 100 every time and it blares into my ear and is very uncomfortable.

Is still a major issue, The other apps respect the Master volume, but Teams do not.
Here's novel idea im sure no one has thought of.... how about an in app volume control? My Teams volume comes in super low, i then have to manually adjust windows volume to 100 and then if any other sound comes from windows, my ear are blown.
Call quality and video quality are great! keep up the good work on that!

Yes Teams does this automatically for some of our users; Raises the volume to max when a Teams call is connected. Curious that it only affects some users and not others. Please address this or provide an explanation for how to avoid (certain hardware/software combos?)
Nope, not fixed alex!

You can do it using a virtual sound card.
Here's a link to a free one that I'm using - https://www.vb-audio.com/Cable/
After installing, you can set Teams's output device to this virtual sound card.
Then, open the Run window with the Windows + R combination.
In the box, write "control mmsys.cpl"(without the quotes.) In the window, go to the Recording tab, and double-click the output of the virtual sound card. In the popup window, go to the tab named "Listen", and enable Listening (checkbox), and set the output to your desired device. (Speakers, headphones, etc.). After you apply the settings and press OK, you can set the volume of this output in the volume mixer.
Hope it helps!
Problem still happening as of today. 05/05/2020
Same issue. PLEASE FIX ASAP.
Definitely not fixed. Frustrating to read that because then I assume that Microsoft quit on fixing a bug before it was resolved.
Please fix this soon, i have same problem that everybody here is. I use too bluetooth (jabra).
Alex - whatever might have been done previously, it's clearly not working correctly now. I've a (new) Plantronics Calisto 3200 (as Teams didn't work at all well with my Ploycom C100, all sorts of problems with echo cancellation not working) and it works great for everything other than Teams. I have to change volume to Off+1 when on Teams call, and then back to 20%...
This 20% thing - have no idea what you are talking about. Every call I get on starts at 100% and is blowing out the rest of my hearing. Please add a persistent default setting for new calls.
This is still causing issues - teams volume is different to system volume. When using a headset the system volume set at 50% is fine. When joining a Teams call the volume seems to always be set to 20% and at this volume it is far too loud. I always have to set the Teams volume to 0% and even at this volume it is quite loud.

I am also experiencing this issue. The volume is much much to loud and all volume setting appear to be ignored by teams
