screenshare without audio
In Skype for Business it's possible to share your screen without using the audio feature. This is important for us, because we use a different conf bridge. Using Skype/Teams audio in that scenario just gets in the way (echo, unwanted audio through PC, etc).
Bottom line, it would be nice to be able to share your screen in Teams without using the voice/audio feature.
I have confirmed with the feature team that this is, in fact, functioning as you expect today – you can share your entire desktop or a specific window directly from a private chat session, without starting audio or video. The mute microphone button is enabled so you are able to easily add audio by “unmuting”, but we realize this is causing confusion. We are working on further experience improvements.

It would be worth MS looking at the functionality in Skype and replicating that. For me, being able to share my screen without a call is something that I do multiple times per day, so having to make a call whilst sharing screens slows things down, confuses those that aren't tech savvy and makes the process laborious.
Lets keep it simple.
I need to be able to share my screen at any time without having to make a call, and I want to be able to select which application (window) that I am using to share.
Can we make that happen please?

its more useful to use this feature without the need for Audio or video call in Teams

the whole calling / screensharing functions need to be decoupled. voice, video, sharing needs to be initiated separately, also the ability add in any voice, video sharing content whilst already doing one of the above.
e.g. I may want to add screen sharing to a voice or video call after i have started the voice or video call. I may want to add voice to a screen sharing session.
This is a standard feature of Type, having a online chat and screen sharing - I understand you often use the phone for discussing but still a nice feature.

Thanks for dropping the video call requirement. Need to also drop audio call requirement. Not all of our user base has audio capability through the workstation, as we have a parallel non-integrated phone system in use by many. (Locked in contract, so not going to drop that soon.)
this misunderstanding is stunning. Of course, we want Teams screensharing without Teams call, as we are using another phone system !
Something is not understandable here ?
And, by the way, we will need the ability to start an audio or video call while screen sharing!
I'm with many of the comments above. It is really difficult to understand how this requirement was misunderstood. Especially when you frequently ask for feedback and use scenarios! And getting hours will be difficult when the 1st request took so long to complete so people have given up on both uservoice AND Teams!
Ugly that users should vote for this obvious feature...

Next time I bring a lawyer before writing something into uservoice, because.....yeah....you know....unbelievable, to need to vote again because screenshare without video is implemented but not without audio....don´t task interns with scanning uservoice, please!
Love this feature, previously we had to use a 3rd party app £££ / $$$ and took time to get connection coulds etc. this is a great enhancement for a quick screen share! Only been live a few days and using it loads with the remote workers. Big thumbs up from me. Thank you!
Really? This is how it's going to be with Teams? Picking words / splitting hairs?
Ok, so we'd need to rephrase then: t would be nice to be able to share your screen in Teams without any dependencies on platform and without any interaction with other features.
I can't believe this......... How was this misunderstood? Why do we have to do this again?
Wasnt it obvious what was requested before? You've just made uservoice useless to 5500 people. Good job.
Are you serious? We have to do this again?
Update from Warren from Microsoft on January 17th 2018:
The User Research group at Microsoft Teams would like to better understand the needs around sharing screen from chat (without audio or video).
Please note; we want the WHOLE screen shared... just in case the request isnt clear

Guys at Microsoft, please use competitors products. There is nothing bad in learning good things from competition.
I thought the goal was feature parity with Skype for biz client. Still not convinced to switch over to teams client for chat, screen share and audio calls yet
Seriously? Did you even read the comments in the original idea, it was pretty clear what your users were asking for. Time for us to start discussions with slack.
