Out of office pop up showing up constantly for all users
Hi,
We at work are in a group chat and when someone is out of office, the little grey bar ontop of the chat box keeps showing up with the info that the person is out of office and may not respond.
You can close it but every time you re-open the chat tab it pops back up.
This happens for all users in chat (about 20 participants).
Can we disable this?
Thanks

Thank you for your feedback. The team is reveiwing this ask. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

Workaround:
Remove the person from the Chat then add them when they return. -

It's not complicated for coding in the same as Outlook which allows you to set an OO message that only shows once to a person who emails and then not again for subsequent emails. You can code teams to show the pop up only once and when x'd it can disappear for that person who x'd it.

I'm having the same problem! I am out-of-office and therefore want to keep the OOO status icon (the pink/purple arrow) so people can see I'm away, but colleagues in chats that I am in are complaining about the constant messages!! It's a nuisance and completely unnecessary!!

Wow, our whole company has been complaining about this since the day we started using Teams, and it turns out people have been saying the exact same thing for three years.
What would this take, 1 day of Dev effort to fix? What a joke.

Three years waiting? My manager has asked me to not set an out of office because this message in Teams is annoying. I am out of the office all Fridays and Mondays, so now no one knows I may not respond. This is a fundamental flaw that undermines the one of the most basic purposes of this communication software.

Typical Microsoft. Complete disregard for the user requests that deviate an inch from the original short-sighted design.

All of the visual changes and all of the feature releases and something as simple as this can't be fixed with one of the many updates that occurs every month.
Why is this still an issue 3 years later?
This needs to stop showing every time I send a message or every time I log into teams. I have a team member who has been out for a week. I KNOW they're out. Teams doesn't need to constantly remind me.

Another vote for the ability to acknowledge/hide or at least move the notification to a less obnoxious part of the window.

The out of office notification feature is very frustrating:
- For teams channels with larger teams someone is always out and users have to constantly click the x to not show.
- The OOO notification bar covers teams chat. I have to click X to see the last lines in chat. An informational feature (OOO bar) shouldn't worsen the user experience of the core feature of communicating with your team.
- There is no way to turn this feature off.
- I polled my core team about this feature and all 6 of us found it frustrating and not worth it especially given its current implementation. -

This request is three years old... When is this going to get fixed so we can mute this notification?

This is super annoying. Please remove this "feature" completely.

Sorry team "out of office", but this is really the most annoying feature ever implemented in any software! I hope Teams gets rid of it ASAP.

Please allow the option to disable this "feature". It is very annoying to see this pop up in EVERY TIME A CHAT IS OPENED.
With many chats on-going and any number of people out on a given day, this notification gets old fast and is pretty useless.
There are other ways to check the status of people, this does not needs to be constantly shoved in your face.

there should be an option to hide this, or if the user already close the out of the office, this should not pop again. it is very annoying.
