Cross team channels
It would be good to have the option of creating channels that span multiple teams. This is great of matrix type organisations where you may have portfolio type teams (Marketing, IT, HR etc), but have cross team functions like Project Management. In that case we would be able to create a channel that is visible within all selected teams and members therein, while preserving other channels to be private within individual teams.
This would be great for me as a teacher to hold virtual office hours available to several different Class Teams.
I could create an Office Hours channel and just start a meeting on the spot at a given time and have students from any team join and leave the meeting as they please---just like they were stopping by my office in real life.
I agree, some more possibilities here https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/38865061-more-channel-types
I need to be able to communicate with other teams. I think most people do. So I have to be able to join their channels. To join their channels, I have to be a member of their team. The problem is, now I get a bunch of notifications for other teams, like "time for the meeting..." or "can someone help me with..". The model "Channels are dedicated sections within a team" (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-channels-overview) is fundamentally broken when it comes to cross-team communication. Some channels are cross-team in nature, and even team-focused channels need to allow stakeholders who are not team members to be able to be part of the channel without being a member of the team.

Now, now, now
This WOULD be a great benefit to Organizations that have groups working in different TEAMs and need to advise/confirm/request a response to thread conversation within a separate Team.
