'Status Unknown' for many users
A large number of users on many of our user's Teams app shows people as 'Status uknown' when these users are actually online, or even actively engaged in a conversation. Fix this!
Have the issue intermittently with some users here as well.
Seriously, this is very annoying and I don't understand why Microsoft isn't adressing this problem! I can't use my desktop version anymore and need to use the browser version, which is incovenient as well! No approach has fixed my problem so far.
I started transiting from Skype to Microsoft Team on my desktop about a month ago. At beginning the user's status indicator seemed to work properly among my favorite groups of 30 people. However it turned out to contract with this "Unknown Status" issue in my Team since about a week ago. The symptom of the issue is that while the statuses of a good portion of the users on my group are indicated Unknow Status or Offline in the Contacts column, they are actually working online, as shown elsewhere in the app's framework, such as Chat pane.
Please fix the issue.
we still face this problem for some users.... 20 of 1000 are complaining about that. is there any solutions?(it does not matter if the mailbox is onprem or on office365)

A coworker of mine has his status show up as unknown when you type his name in a Microsoft Teams meeting, although it shows up fine in other places. please address this.
Just had the same issue, this fixed it for me
Ensure all MS Applications are closed
Go to Access Work or School in Settings
Click on your Microsoft Account
Then click connect and log back in
Your MS Teams Status should hopefully be fixed
PS after that. Also logging off and in the desktop app, did work.
A Workaround that worked for me is openeing teams in the browser. There I can see all Status of other people.
I have "Status Unknown" Issue. Re-booting the PC does not help.

Even with team only mode issue is not fixed.
We have 1000 users and been in Teams only mode for about 6 months now. One user has just reported this is happening. Changing CoExistence mode at the user level made no difference,
Got a single user at our organisation with this issue - she always appears offline to others when on her computer, and everyone else is "Status Unknown" to her. If she logs in on her mobile, her status shows correctly to others.
We've reinstalled, cleared appdata, etc etc... We use Skype for Business too, so we're not going to change our Coexistence settings org-wide to Teams-Only.
