Ability to undock the "Chat" function in the Teams window
Would like to see the ability to undock the "Chat" function in the Teams window - like the Skype for Business interface, so that I can work in "Teams" and view documents while answering questions for folks. Too often, someone asks me a question, to answer it I have to leave the chat and find the document and then go back to the chat and then re-find the document. I also may want the chat up and visible while I'm working in other applications without wanting the heavier/larger total Teams UI on top.
This is very necessary, if there are a couple of teams chat rooms where you have to copy paste values from a teams excel doc , you loose a lot of time finding the doc again, after each copy paste. This is a very important feature to add. Not only undoc a single chat room, it is the whole chat window that must be undockable.

But I think it would be usefull if one could undock any tab from Teams in a separate window
Life for a few years now were focused on as-few-clicks-as-possible... Teams seems to just blatantly ignore this, making navigation immensely difficult.
One can't be actively busy in a team, and quickly check a chat, join a meeting from Calendar, or check in another team.
It feels like a fork lift. Go into this row of shelves, but to quickly look at something else, lock into reverse, go aaaaaal the way back the way you came, and ride into the container. Then repeat for the next shelf...
Would be a very nice added feature.
Almost all other platforms allow this. Would dramatically increase workflow efficiency within the environment.
very needed functionality, would be equally relevant for Calls
@satish: the only way I know is, that you start teams in a browser. So you have opened the teams app and the browser as well. But early next year this feature is coming

A very much needed feature. It was great during the Skype days. did any one figured a non-standard ways to undock chat function ? or is there any ways we can start teams twice and have one for chat exclusively and other for additional activities?

main idea for this is here:
Please go vote there as well. I really want this as well and see it as the biggest hinderance to using Teams effectively

Must have feature!
Please put this in priority. It's very frustrating when chatting with more than 4 people to switch back and forth...

Such a good idea please look at doing this

This is closely related to the more general separate-windows idea here: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16926739-multi-window-for-chats-and-more
Yes, Is very inneficient go back and re-find the team, the channel, and the document where i was working on. I think your idea will be fantastic.
