If a user posts a reply that is a single word prefaced with *, assume they are trying to correct a typo in the earlier post
I'll often see messages where users made a typo, then noticed it, and instead of editing the message (which is easy in Teams) they type "*correction" where the corrected word intended for their last message follows an asterisk.
When this happens, it'd be nice if Teams would detect this and help the user to properly edit the typo in the previous message - this might help prevent the tread filling up with junk.
Something to this effect would be helpful to get users familiar with the edit message option. Also when you do edit a previous message this should be obvious to everyone else in the Team. The only indication is a faint "Edited" text next to the timestamp. The message should be flagged again as unread to everyone else in the Team after it is edited.
Could be an asterisk after* the word to prevent a potential problem as stated by Sean Ellis.

This must be an option, as "* Word" may mean "This is a bullet point in a series of bulleted posts" or "This is part of a multiline C comment" or something else depending on context.
