DO NOT DISTURB- DOESN'T WORK
Make the "Do Not Disturb" actually not disturb! I hate that I still receive notifications on my PC as well as on my phone when in DND. It doesn't even send a message to people that this person is unavailable so they can't send you a message.

I have a job where I take a lot of escalations and have multiple IM's running pretty much constantly where people want/need answers "NOW." My ADHD means that that sometimes I have to go DND to be able to single focus on clients or other projects.
If I go into DND in Skype for business, it sends a notification to the person IM'ing me that I'm not available and they can go to a colleague for assistance.
If I go into DND on MS Teams, it's like it's a "suggestion." So, I'm both bothered like I need to answer, and (because nobody pays attention to statuses), I look like I'm ignoring them if I don't answer. Meaning they both A) think I'm a total jerk who isn't answering them and B) they get held up when they need an answer quickly, as it takes a few minutes to figure out I'm not answering them.

DND acts like busy on PC, no difference.. people can write to me and I get notifications. This is awful because I don't have the option to be on-line and not available for all! Please fix this.
It was better as it was in the past when if I wanted to write to someone on DND I got an instant notification that he/she is on DND and will not receive my message and my message will be sent to him/her on email instead. I remember me receiving those kind of emails from people writing to me when I was on DND. Go back to that!!!!

I agree with most of the people in this thread.
Make DND work as it is intended too Do Not Disturb, now it's just basically the same as busy and you get so many messages that you need to address afterwards... -

Agree with the responses below. I get disturbed all day when in DND and it is distracting and disruptive. DND should mean NO notifications allowed!

Please:
-Auto set status to DND when windows focus assist is on priority only
-Only allow priority contacts to chat with you, but even if they do:
-Dont show popup, only show a number of messages next to the icon on the task bar
-Dont allow non-priority contacts to send you a message.MS Teams has turned to poison for me. It is an extra comms channel next to Outlook specially for the impatient colleagues trying to find a shortcut. Thanks for adding to people's burn-outs, Microsoft.

+1 for this. It's infuriating.

I get put into do not disturb automatically even after opting out in myanalytics. I get in a lot of trouble with my boss for this. I wish I could disable it.

I see I am not the only one. The worst is when the App is closed with DND on and still get messages.

I have been in DND mode all day to work on a deadline and I have had nothing but interruptions. It is frustrating that the only way the feature functions properly is if you close the app and use something else for communicating with others. Skype worked much better than Teams. At least I can silence my phone.

I agree it's ridiculous - you're trying to do a presentation and there's no option to not have boxes come up. Microsoft always misses the real world with whoever designs their code

Yes please!! Skype didn't allow people to even message you when on Do Not Disturb but you could have your group that could still reach out. This is so important for people in support roles. If I set myself to Do Not Disturb and everyone can still message me, I just have a huge backlog of messages to respond to once I'm available. Do Not Disturb in it's current form is pretty much useless.

yes.. PLEASE
-add a way to block certain people from chat (but not from phone and email)
-add a way to block all incoming chats (but not phone and email) except from priority contacts
-add a way to block all incoming calls (but not and chat and email) except from priority contacts
-add a way to block all incoming chats (but not phone and email)
-add a way to block all incoming calls (but not chat and email)-update the search function, to include Teams own settings
(for example: search "priority contacts." in Teams. It would be nice if Teams would then tell you about priority contacts in privacy settings, rather than about adding normal contacts) -

I have same issue, when I activate DnD I still receive messages, notifications from my contacts!! I tried to look at some settings in teams but there is nothing about it just to set people who can disturb you. I have no one set but still receive messages! Anyone knows how to fix it?

DND needs a silent mode – this is do-not-disturb plus no visual indication of any messaging activity. For example, bolding of incoming chat messages from individuals or groups, and no popup notifications. Turning off silent mode would then restore the display to normal, and show who sent messages. The user will still be able to send and read chat messages if needed while in silent mode. Excluding certain users can be set, so notifications and alerts will work as normal for those individuals.

I'm confused... what is the purpose of adding "priority contacts" if it doesn't restrict who can initiate a chat with you. I set myself to DND and still get other people (i.e. not on my priority contacts) initiating chats with me.

I had expected DND would be the same as Skype and notify people up front that I was unavailable and any messages would be sent via email. But instead I see there is a chat awaiting me (Teams icon) and now I can't ignore that person/request. Their expectation is an immediate response from me.

A must have feature. It disrupts the work when you are in a meeting and sometimes irritated.
