Multi-tab experience, or remove "Are you still there?" in the web browser
I want a multi-tab Teams experience. In the desktop app, going between editing a doc, and back to an IM chat, and finding a Team channel, then back to editing the doc.. it's too crazy!
So I use a web browser, and I can keep open (and bookmark) all the important stuff I access regularly.
The problem is when I'm not on a tab for even 1 minute, it wants to reload after confirming "Are you still there?"
I would like to see the timeout increased on that, or multi-tab chatting inside the desktop app.
Thank you for your feedback. The team is looking into this feature and considering options on how to improve the overall Teams multi-tab experience, including on Web. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

I am not asking to punish that "brilliant" person who implemented this functionality, that completely ruin user experience, but please remove this pup-op!!!
We are not on Windows 3.1 where there was no multitasking!
This is more than just annoying, it is a complete break from an enterprise web based application. You can not 'use' MS Teams like every other web app on the market. Multi-tab is ESSENTIAL. Users need to work on multiple docs, conversations, chats at a time. You are forced to log out of video conferences once this "are you there?" message appears.

Please fix this!
It's really annoying

This is my biggest gripe. Microsoft, how have you not fixed such an obvious and basic issue?!
All of last week I could work in multiple tabs with no problem. Now, I keep getting this annoying "Are you there message" after a very short time. The worst is that when I am in a meeting and I need multiple tabs as we discuss, and I get disconnected when I go back to the meeting tab and click on the "I am back" :(
What's even worse is any currently live Teams meeting is disconnected if you click on the "Are you still there?"
Joshua's workaround with chrome://flags/#automatic-tab-discarding didn't work for me
Just got Teams and using for a couple of minutes and already this is annoying. Please Microsoft fix it. Remove the session time out.
This is basic usability. Slack does not have this issue!
I suspect the season is timing out because the way it was code. Suspect each open season puts additional micro load on the server polling for new messages. This on scale adds up. To stop this they make the session timeout quickly to stop polling the server for new messages. ;-(

Agree, this is really really annoying... my PC will lock automatically if I'm not there, so I can't see the purpose of this feature in any case.
I am trying out this solution to prevent this from occuring:
However, this might lead to higher memory consumption from Chrome

It's June 4, 2019 and this issue persists. I had to redo a message because of the timeout issue.

Agreed, this is also very annoying and inhibits my use of the platform. One of the main attractions was the tabbed experience that I just expected would be available. Even our clunky old university Blackboard system provides this smoothly.
This clearly is annoying when one is authenticated already through SSO. There has to be a setting or some way to get this pop up turned off, and stay on Teams.
I have the same issue. I need to use multiple tabs so have to use the browser version, which keeps timing out. I am not on a public computer so don't see the need for a timeout or the timeout should be extendable. The desktop version does not allow multiple tabs
Constantly being shown the 'Are you still there?' pop up which makes you refresh the page... You should show the pop up after 30 minutes/1 hour of inactivity, not less than a minute!
Very annoying, please update!
This idea for multiple active tabs is getting more attention. Submit you vote here.
I have this problem as well. It makes it very difficult to manage multiple conversations.
