Multi-tab experience, or remove "Are you still there?" in the web browser
I want a multi-tab Teams experience. In the desktop app, going between editing a doc, and back to an IM chat, and finding a Team channel, then back to editing the doc.. it's too crazy!
So I use a web browser, and I can keep open (and bookmark) all the important stuff I access regularly.
The problem is when I'm not on a tab for even 1 minute, it wants to reload after confirming "Are you still there?"
I would like to see the timeout increased on that, or multi-tab chatting inside the desktop app.
Thank you for your feedback. The team is looking into this feature and considering options on how to improve the overall Teams multi-tab experience, including on Web. We will share an update as soon as one is available.
Can we please just have an option to disable this?
It is NOT simply an annoyance, it directly interrupts meetings and workflows, and results in being disconnecting from meetings. It's disruptive.
Someone did not think this "feature" through...
It's not a nice-to-have, it's an absolute necessity given Teams multi-purpose interface (chat, channels, docs, apps) requiring multiple windows at any given time.
Let's get this sorted please Microsoft.

Agree with what most people here are saying, multiple windows / tabs is SUPER useful, and there's no real issue with having a time-out feature.
Where this is killing usability is forcing calls and meetings to terminate whether you're there or not! That really does defeat the point of "asking" if you're going to hang-up all the sessions anyhow... fix that please!

The main issue with the "Are you still there?" message is what happens when you click I'm back....
I was on video chat in teams and opened a new tab to check something else in teams.
When I went back to the video chat I instinctively clicked "im back" only for the the browser to initiate a reload of the current page and so killed the call. Very poor experience.
Also, as the video chat didn't stop when the "Are you still there?" message appeared I can only assume activity on the page hasn't stopped and so reloading the page when clicking "Im back" serves even less purpose - just close the dialog???
In a web browser, I was getting the "Are you still there" message regularly. Now I get a "No big deal" message. It appears that this is a new message for the same issue. Actually this *is* a big deal.
The way we need to work these days, a multi tab web browser experience is what we need for the future. Please make this a focus.
MS Teams make my work needlessly complicated and it takes too long to upload. I am regularly logged out, lose access, can't access files from a link while working on an excel sheet. The time-out/i'm back feature would be okay if it didnt take so long to load. why is this still an issue? I can't believe that MS thought that people only worked ONE TAB AT A TIME.
a 1 minute task becomes 30 minutes of work because of all these issues. Now, instead of being done with my 1 task i am complaining on this forum. Which is another waste of time!
Teams as an app is useless for multitasking or complex work environments as you can only have one page open at a time. The only way I am able to work partially efficiently using it is to use browser-based. I can work around having 2 open in different instances of a browser. I regularly have, for example, 2 different spreadsheets I need open to coordinate different parts of my team and then the file sections related to them, so I can add files for those teams and then a chat open, so I can communicate. I can juggle most of this with a dual-screen setup at home, but I don't have that at work. If I want to look at assessments and the reference attachments or compare two instances of an assessment, I can't easily.
Shared files is also painful. I am using a shared onedrive folder these days as the extra steps to open, edit and print in Teams are time sponges. IT: Faster, easier, better. Teams is not there yet.
Need a web browser solution (not app only!)
Using multiple tabs for teams is essential behavior. I cannot be productive staying within one tab. Multiple tabs helps improve the workflow.
Suggestions of not using multiple tabs or desktop app only are completely unacceptable, especially since a multi-tab experience was working earlier this year.
Please prove everyone wrong, and FIX THE PROBLEM MICROSOFT! I've just started college working on my first assignment on Teams, and it is one of the most frustrating technological mishaps I've ever been through. If you expect to remain the main means of communication in organizations, THIS HAS TO BE FIXED!

Hi, people. We switched to Google Slack. Not much of a learning curve. Check it out!

PLEASE REMOVE THIS [ARE YOU STILL THERE] POPUP, IT KEEPS KICKING ME OUT OF MEETINGS
This "Are you still there" is a hands-down contender for the most childish feature in a MS program. It is utterly destructive. I don't see any point in this intrusion in the workflow for anybody in any circumstance. It just wipes anything you were doing before going for a cup of coffee. Jeesuzzz Microsoft!!

While it is understandable form a technical point of view it is indeed very frustraing especially considering the fact thas Teams is not the fasted to begin with. The last years everything is multitab based. It was so common that we even didn askeds about it when they wanted to implement it in our municipa organisation. Now it is the daily horror of many of my collegeous nog be able to us right mousebutten which says 'open in new tab'.
Let's end this with a positve vibe....we sincerely hope that multitab will be implemented due to all the resource MS has. Thans in beforehand very much....
Please, please, please fix this. Extremely annoying and frustrating. You've 'asked' that we use Teams for our everyday productivity tool and you don't allow multiple windows/tabs? Give me a break!
This, paired with the bizarre difference in function between the app and browser version of this service are its current major issues
This function ruins my days, my mood and my workflow. PLEASE MAKE IT STOP.

This is a bug / fault in the system that has kicked me out of meetings and I've had to rejoin - extremely frustrating and makes an otherwise excellent system not fit for purpose.
This is driving me nuts. Makes it totally unusable.
It is an unbelievably bad feature. Actually, we should call it a bug - it asks me to confirm if I am still there (in an online meeting) if I came back after checking a document on another Tab. I could still hear and participate in the meeting while on the other tab. But the moment I am back on the online meeting tab and say Yes to confirm I am back, it promptly drops me off. This is very embarrassing and inconvenient as a meeting participant - so if your users are feeling embarrassed while using your product, Microsoft - please do something about this NOW.
so frustrating to constantly see this pop-up. I often work with multiple documents open at once and have flick between them. My workaround is to download hard copies which defeats the purpose of an online interface. Multi-tabs experience is crucial for efficiency.
