Would like to see a feature to ignore a conversation
Would be nice to be able to flag a conversation to be ignored so that you don't receive notifications. I want to receive notifications for a channel but a specific conversation I want to ignore.

It's been a year and still no updates on this feature. From a developer standpoint, this is quite easy to implement. Even messenger already has this feature, so why hasn't MS Teams added this yet?

Adding another vote for this. I love teams for the ability to collaborate across offices and client sites and keep the team united, but I don't necessarily want updates from the March Madness conversation.
Following a conversation should be an opt-in: default to ignore, flag to follow. Conversations not opted in would neither notify nor expand.
Consider it like noise cancellation headphones for chat: Is not this basic functionality sorely missing?
Sometimes, one can be faced--if not flooded--with irrelevant or uninteresting conversations. Ignoring conversations would help dramatically in mitigating the issue of distracting noise.
YES! so darn intrusive!. I give one comment for advice and I am locked into it forever!!!
If I close Teams, it will just start sending emails that I am missing the conversation!!!
GO AWAY! I effing hate teams because of this - it constantly interrupts me while I am trying to work.
