Share live location
I really like the location feature in 2016 Business Skype. It know when I move between my two facilities at work and it also remembers my home location. This should be a feature in Microsoft Teams.
As people are starting to go back to partial in office schedules, this feature is becoming important again. Cisco Jabber offers this and allows you to rename each location. Please push this back up on the development priority list.

Since my company and many others now work with many more employees at off site locations, having a location status set by remembered connections (like Skype for Business) would be great. I am usually working from home now, but occasionally I will be onsite, and where onsite is an additional benefit.
Organizations that never used SfB and recently implemented Teams will think this this feature is an absolute gamechanger! It will make life easier for everyone I work with, and it looks like I'm not the only one.
This is a MUST-HAVE in a world that is becoming comfortable with in-person work. Not only was it helpful to see if someone was at the office, working from home, or at an external site... but it was all done automatically. It was so great to not have to type my location in every day. Please add this soon.
The location feature in Skype makes sharing my status with our staff completely automatic for me. I don't have to think about updating my status unless I want to post an exception.
I'm really frustrated that Microsoft left so much of this status/presence stuff out of Teams and I don't understand why we're being forced to move to Teams when it really doesn't even provide the same level of functionality that Skype does.
This is not about sharing your location ad-hoc but the capability for Teams to recognize the office and floor your are working from and update your status based on the QoE data it already has.
With the global pandemic this is a priority, please can Microsoft progress this functionality as it was in Skype.
Realy needed. Looking foreward to the implementation.

Yes please provide an update....will be especially critical for hybrid teams going forward
Please can you confirm if this is going to be addressed
Hi for safeguarding purposes in the UK (and I can see this being used in other countries) it would be beneficial to have live locations so that teachers can view where the student is and safeguarding officers can match that up against pupils’ addresses. This would be a game changer to ensure safety of pupils at all times, more so for vulnerable pupils who’s whereabouts need to be known for obvious reasons.
This is desperately needed. The set status message is good as a workaround but it's no good for the long term. Give us a text field that you can put in your location.
This is a critical flexible working feature that in the times of COVID when traditional business are looking to relax 'be in the office' policies - having a solution to reduce locational anxiety would be a welcome enabler.
The functionality in SFB was good enough for this, but it would be even better if i could load an IP zone or Wireless SSID map to location name table in for work addresses and have staff and students set their home and other locations on the fly.
This probably doesn't even need to be a specific mapped location identifier.
A semi customisable field of "Working from..." and the user can set a handful of choices, like;
Office .. or...
No need for an address. Heck, most probably don't want anyone knowing their precise home address especially.

This worked great from SfB.
So why didn't they just include it from the beginning?
In these Covid times when back and forth between home and office, this would have been great to include now when the transition from SfB to Teams is on its way.
We need this!
fully agree that it is on add-on to share the location

Is there any information on where this feature request currently stands? It's been under review for well over a year now. Thank you!

If these addresses populate from LIS, then this would be very helpful to identify if LIS is configured properly.

I am familiar with the location feature from Cisco Jabber. What is important is that the location feature be automatic by the point of connection the user makes. Where Jabber fell short was it did not tell the location when showing "Away".
This would really improve communications and keep other team members in the know. Especially, now that most organization are working remotely
