Chat notifications in Chat, not Activity
When someone likes a message on Chat, the notification appears on Activity, so you have to click to a different screen to see it. Would like notifications about any activity in Chat show up in Chat

I want to add his thread as i can see the "Activity" and "Chat" is causing pain and confusion and there's not a lot of option for configuration to what the user wants to use it for.
I work in Microsoft and what i have noticed is a lot for my collogues are setting up Meetings or group chats instead of creating a teams channel. The reason why they do this is when you're in a teams channel any thing in that channel that you post in the conversation even if you mention someone by name it will only go to the activity feed, which a lot of people don't really look at and miss things even if it's highlight in red with the number of activities, so your not sure if someone mentioned your name or there is action for you or someone just liked a message you posted.
So as a work around they create many meetings or chat groups and then pin them so they don't lose sight of them. They know when some types in the meeting or on the group chat it with will go to the chat icon and when someone likes their comment it will go to the activity icon. it's not consistent and i think there needs to be a better use of the chat or activity icon or give more options to the user how they want it to work for their preference.

Agreed as well, super annoying.

Adding my vote here. This is bad design, especially when you're viewing the conversation where you can clearly see they reacted. Please update this or give users a configuration option to turn it off. Thank you!

To expand on this any activity that happens in ongoing meetings gets duplicate notifications. I get both an indicator in the actual meeting window and then another separate one in the activity tab.
It's fine to have the content in both places, that's the point after all, but if I click on the meeting window and read a new message I should not have to ALSO go to the activity tab and click on the message so that both new message indicators go away.
Yes I agree as well. This is, in my humble opinion not logical. I expect it to show on the chat tab only. Now I’m switching frequently to the Activity tab only to find out someone liked my comment in a chat.

This is one of the most annoying things in teams, I really hope they change it. All chat related things/events should be shown in the chat

This is absolutely necessary, we need to be able to default to silence reactions to messages.

I agree with this suggestion entirely. Notification of a liked message should show up as a chat notification, not be put into another "Activity bucket". Toggling back and forth from the chat to the activity just to clear the notification is annoying. If I am in the chat already and clearly see the liked message, what is the point of the additional notification? It's redundant. If I want to respond to the notification of a liked message, I have to go to the chat anyway to type a message. Too many extra steps and doesn't seem to make much sense.
Why not put all recent chatting in the Activities tab for that matter? Why do I have to go to two places to see recent activity?
I completely agree.
I completely agree. It is so annoying that to dismiss the 'like' notification I have to view the notification in both the 'chat' and the 'activity' windows.
Oh lord, yes. This is annoying!
