Accent shortcuts (like in Word) don't work
In Word, if I type CTRL+SHIFT+^ followed by u I get a û. Similar shortcuts exist to get characters such as é à ö ç.
These shortcuts don't work when I type them in Teams.
Thank you for your replies and clarification.
Sorry for misinterpretation.

I have to use this for my virtual Spanish class. So frustrating that it doesn't work!
Many many kids are now using teams as virtual classrooms.
Please allow Teams to work just as the Word app does re: Language accents.
...If I could just bring this question back to the front of the pile by reposting in it?....last admin comment was July 19. :-P

Yes please! Remembering the <Alt> codes is almost impossible. I work in an international organisation and it feels almost rude to type someone's name and not put the accents in.

This is now vital as more companies are on work from home and we need to communicate with our overseas colleages! Get this sorted out IMMEDIATELY!

Urgently needed as it exists in all other Office applications.
Right now, I cannot easily type French accents when chatting with my colleagues, as I am myself using an English OS and keyboard.
As Gstar mentioned, I was not reporting an issue but a missing functionality that exists in other Microsoft applications.
Testing with the latest version of Teams, I still cannot enter accented characters from the keyboard using Ctrl plus accent keys combinations.
Yes, I still observe this. I'm not sure you've understood the issue though.
Try Ctrl-, then c. In Outlook and Word, that'll give you a ç.
Why can this not be done in Teams?
This is very important for people writing in different language with one keyboard.
It is not humanly possible to remember all ALT+NUM shortcut and the functionality of Word to use CTRL or SHIFT and the letter where the accent is located is extremely useful.
This was working fine in Skype for Business and with Microsoft pushing for organizations to use Teams in replacement of Skype for Business, we lost the ability to write correctly in accented language in Teams.
