Search for (and/or Call) Office 365 Contacts, Exchange Mail Users/Contacts
Our organisation has many external users (mail users) and Office 365 Contacts in our Global Address List. Skype for Business has the ability to search for these contacts in the GAL and we can easily make calls to them.
We need this same functionality in Teams.
Exactly, it is very important feature
We need the ability to globally add an external contact so it becomes searchable on all our MTR room systems throughout our enterprise.
At the moment we have to manually add the contacts on each and every device individually.

I'm surprised this isn't available yet. We have contacts that we sync with a business partner and while we can search for them in SFB and in Outlook we don't find them in Teams. When is this coming?

Yes, we need this feature too! We have a CTI-Integration and we want to change to teams telephonie. In our tests ist does not work, that teams get the customer name out of our global exchange contacts. This means, that if we get a call from one if our customers whitch is also a global contact, only his phone number appears on the screen.
As long as this (simple !!!) feature isn't avalable, we couldn't change to teams telephony.
Or is there any workaround to get cutomer names? Maybe to trigger a powerapp?

Yes, calling and messaging via GAL and Contacts are basic needs that need to be in place so we can retire Skype for Business.

Absolutely! And Teams needs to be able to read/use an individual's Outlook contacts.

Agreed. This should be a relatively simple change to incorporate
