Option to disable banner while still receiving notification
We would like to have an option that disables the pop-up notification but still allows the icon to blink on the taskbar, like Skype or Skype for Business.
Currently we only have the option to have the pop-up banners which are intrusive on a single screen setup, or to disable them completely.

Why do Microsoft think they need to control the user experience?
If I do not need popup and banners, why on earth should Microsoft decide if I should be able to turn this On or Off?
Fix this in the next update
AGREE. Considering giving up M Teams because of this annoying lack of functionality.
Yes, please! Why is it so impossible to turn banners off and keep a running total in the task bar?
I've wasted hours convinced there must be a way to do this and wasted even more hours getting distracted by them.
Completely agree, need to enable a notification feature without the text banner popping up. Detracts from productivity and energy management.
As a temporary solution, you could check out the option to 'only show in feed'
It doesn't work for new chats, but you can set it for all the other options (see picture in attachment).
Hope this helps already a bit!
I completely agree with everyone else. What a horrible design. I would never use Teams for this alone not to mention the other ridiculous problems (can't add people to chats without starting a new one, can't copy/paste/save chats, etc). Only using it because my company switched from Skype.
This is VITAL, utterly required feature.
currently sounds only work when banners are enabled.
we don't want the stupid banners pop up every time
The banner is pretty disruptive from both sending and receiving. I am hesitant to send a quick message to someone incase it could be seen by others and I do not feel others need to see what is being sent by or to me.
It is unfortunate when you are in a meeting and everyone can see everything people are chatting you. it would be helpful to have sound without the banner. We don't want to completely eliminate notifications, just the banner with have of the chat popping up.

intrusive notifications are consider rude when presenting, but having the option to blink will still keep presenter alert of what is happening while presenting.
Can't believe this option does not exist, clearly Microsoft have no clue how people work and use their products. Having pop ups piling up until the top of the screen and no alternative expect turning notifications off is beyond ridiculous

Hope this becomes a feature soon. I have to turn the banner off when working on my laptop because the constant flood of chats fills my screen and blocks whatever I'm working on. If I turn the banner off, I would at least like to get an audio notification so I can go in and check the messages when I'm able to

voting for this option as well.

100% agree. I mean seriously, whoever at Microsoft Teams development team came up with the idea to have a 3 inch banner that stays on screen for more than 5 seconds and have it pile up to the top of your screen should really consider enrolling in a UX design class. It's very annoying and distracting! Why this "feature" was greenlit on release is beyond me, seriously, I feel like nobody at Microsoft tested this out. At least have the option to make it smaller and non intrusive.
I agree with the above wholeheartedly. The pop ups drive me crazy. I want the Skype for business option of just flashing the taskbar and playing a sound. The pop ups are really distracting me from my work.
I agree with above. I quite often don't notice that I've got a new message with the number that comes up. I really need the whole icon to flash like Skype does. Also if I could get the banner to appear on my second monitor I might use it, but as it is it always comes up on my primary monitor interrupting what I'm doing.
Pop up banners are extremely annoying even on dual monitor setups. The banner constantly pops on the first screen even when the app is on the second screen. They also aren't useful since most people are constantly chatting and a popup for each message is totally worthless.
Add the ability to move the pop up banner and the ability to disable the banner entirely. Disabling the banner should NOT disable the icon flashing on the start menu. The flashing icon is a much better new message notification and should really be the default with banners requiring manual user activation.

Just been trying to disable the pop-up banner as it interferes with other work I'm doing and presentations, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this (and one option for all notification types). Need to turn off the banner while still letting the icon flash.

The banners are intrusive on a single screen set-up while I am working with two panes, which I have to do only periodically. There is no quick way to disable all banners, as you have to go through and manually change about 12 different banner notification options every time under "Settings." I would like to be able to work for an hour without the nuisance of the banners taking up screen space, but then be able to revert to previous settings and get the banners back in just a few clicks.
