Answering to a thread
If you start in a channel a new thread one should use the answering field to answer directly to the thread. Most people will start a new thread to anser directly. That makes the discussions confusing. To avoid that I would suggest to mark the field where you can start a new thread with "Start a new Thread here" /In German "Starte ein neues Thema hier". The Answering Field the word "Answer"should be a little bit more black. That would make it easier to distinguish between these to possiblities to answer to an topic.

This is ultimately a consequence of poor UX design. If users can't tell the difference between between "Answer" and "Start new conversation" then something should be done to enhance the differences between the two functions.
I would suggest that the "Answer" line is highlighted with a light blue background color, or blue font color, as to emulate "used link" approach.
The "Start new conversation" should also be more clear and elaborative, for instance represented with a practical example. Could be something like: "Start new conversation - This is where you type to start a new conversation, which is NOT an answer or response related the any existing conversations above.."
Its hard to present functions by means of semantics alone, as most users have a hard time visualizing and imagining it. I would therefore also suggest that efforts are made to explain the differences between "Start new conversation" and "Answer" more graphically.
These 2 input bars definitely and urgently need to be redesigned, they get confused on a daily basis.
For example: Why does "new conversation" have to be located at the bottom, instead of the top? Problem solved! Or: swap the "new conversation" text field with its toolbar, in order to create some separation from the conversations above.
Also, Admins should be able to move such orphan conversations into the threads they belong to.
We have exactly the same problem.
And we had the same proposals.
We have one more suggestion. Instead of click on "Answer" to a thread we could have directly a message field like for a new thread.
