Spell check in multiple languages
It would be nice if it was possible to have the Teams desktop app in one languge and spell checking in multiple languge and at the same time customize date and time format.
E.g. I would like to have Teams in English, have spell checking in English and Danish, and have date and time format in "Danish".

Thank you for your feedback! We are happy to share that users who write different messages in different languages, will now see spellchecking relevant to the language they are actively using when typing a message while using the Microsoft Teams Desktop App on Windows.

This is paramount considering the amount of information we are putting into Teams these days.

It would be good if it could spellcheck in English correctly. It thinks I've, you've, should've etc. are misspellings. It's also crazy that you can't add words, like your own company and product names.

Please put this as TOP priority on backlog!

Any other implementation than the one suggested above should lead to public shaming!
1. English UI to get rid of crappy translations
2. Multilanguage spell checking
3. Local/customized date time to get rid of those horrible, non-conforming, non-iso-8601 retarded formats out there -

It's already in Word, in Outlook. We need it in Teams.

This is ironically the worst way to push for making this feature a reality. As of today (6-may-2020) this feature request only has 1027 Votes. And that is more than two years since it was suggested. Users who need spell checking in other languages quite probably don't even speak English well enough to find this forum, then to find this post, and then to Vote it up. If decisions are made primarily based on the popularity of an idea in this forum, then this feature will never come to fruition because there are millions of English only speakers who won't care if this ever happens or not.
It should just be taken for granted that spell checking in multiple languages is an essential feature for a software solution being promoted on the global market. -

Hi Alex,
Good to hear it is on the backlog. Do you have any idea when it will make it to the sprint planning?
Best regards,

Hi! This is indeed a very useful feature to have. I would take it one step further. Besides having a global preference, ideally the language could be a setting per team & channel (and stored on the server).
Why? We are a company with mostly Dutch employees, but also have employees who only speak English (or their other native language). So for the company-wide Teams, the default language is English. But for quite a few teams the language they will speak is Dutch.

Would be a very nice feature for all switching between local language and English in chat all the time.

I concur! We needs this. Multi language spell check, being able to add words, or just tun it off altogether when desired.

Forcing people away from Skype for business. No problem. But a tool for multinational which does not provide a multiple language proof is really sad for not saying ridiculos.

Alex (Teams Engineering, Microsoft Teams) responded November 09, 2019:
Multi-language spell check is on the backlogToday is April 25, 2020. Still nothing. Any other software products in the office segment I recall, created by respectable companies or communities, have been having multi-language proofing for many years. From MiKTeX to Confluence, you can switch proofing language on-the-fly. Why on Earth my company and so many international companies choose Microsoft products?

Thank you MS team for working on the multiple language, spell check feature. Please keep up updated as it is becoming a challenge in communication with multiple Teams across our regions.
