Spell check in multiple languages
It would be nice if it was possible to have the Teams desktop app in one languge and spell checking in multiple languge and at the same time customize date and time format.
E.g. I would like to have Teams in English, have spell checking in English and Danish, and have date and time format in "Danish".
Thank you for your feedback! We are happy to share that users who write different messages in different languages, will now see spellchecking relevant to the language they are actively using when typing a message while using the Microsoft Teams Desktop App on Windows.
This is a really urgent feature to reduce technological discrimination.
It'd be pretty helpful such feature.
is absurd to dont have the possibility to change spell checking language.

Ups, I'm not aware of any other MS Office app not supporting work in an international, multi-lingual environment, and very surprised MS Teams only supports mono-lingual usage.
With all the nice goodies recently released there seems to be quite some dev capacity available, so please give this very basic functionality priority.

Urgently needing to have a solution to switch between languages (English/French/Spanish). A workaround for me is to type in Word and paste into Teams; not the best though.
I would add Outlook and Word keyboard shortcuts for French accents (CTRL+4,vowel).
I'm working in a bilingual setting and although my primary language is English, it would be nice if it were possible to avoid having everything I enter in Japanese not get red underlines on them (without having to turn off the spell check feature altogether).
I solve this issue using the web of teams instead of the app in chrome so you can use the explorer grammar review, but Microsoft never disappoint me making mediocre software.

Every other major chat option deals with this somehow...
This might be a good time to start working on this...

Maybe this needs to move out of the backlog. Your COVID era commercial has a professor from Italy and a cop from the UK but multilingual spell check is on the backlog? So you offer a way for the world to meet online as long as they don't need robust spellchecking.

With such a feature, Teams would be simple perfect!!
Really hope that this is coming soon ...
Working in an international company - language is EN. But want to see the date and number format etc. in my locale not in US ...
But that the e. g. chat is not recognizing that I type in EN leads to the result "that there is no spell check" but nearly everything is underlined as miss-spelled ...
No clue why this is working for Word, to a certain extend PPTx, Skype - but not in teams ...

Please move it to the top of the list. really needed it. I keep copy pasting text from word in to teams :( with my dyslexia I really need the spelling checker...
Definitely needs to be fixed. It's horrible typing and reading this way!

This needs to be fixed! We have about 4,000 users who regularly ask about this. We run apps in English for the sake of easy support, but cover alt least 8 native languages.
Why not use the engine that already exists in other MS apps or in the browser technology?
At least let us turn spell checking off so the whole text stops being underlined in red whenever we're using any other language than english. It's especially annoying when your and your teams' native language is not english and you use your native language for your daily communication...
I communicate with teams in the US and Latin America. I need spell check in English, Spanish and Portuguese with Teams automatically detecting which language I am typing in like Word does.
