Spell check in multiple languages
It would be nice if it was possible to have the Teams desktop app in one languge and spell checking in multiple languge and at the same time customize date and time format.
E.g. I would like to have Teams in English, have spell checking in English and Danish, and have date and time format in "Danish".
Thank you for your feedback! We are happy to share that users who write different messages in different languages, will now see spellchecking relevant to the language they are actively using when typing a message while using the Microsoft Teams Desktop App on Windows.
This is needed! Transnational teams are the norm now.
I would appreciate Czech spell checker

When multi language spell check will be available?
Is multi-language spell check stil on the backlog?
The easiest might be to have a language selection drop down right next to the input textbox. This would allow to toggle language easily for each message.

Adding a ping in the hope to help giving this suitable priority; multi language support (similar like in outlook) is really needed.
I hope all european languages are included

Please boost the priority for multi-language support. When a colleague writes in any language that is not the default, the Teams spell checker marks up in red all across the text, which is incorrect.
Just providing another perfect example of why this is really needed.
Is this at least moving ? On the backlog since Nov 2019.
Really need it each day. Do you have a release date for this feature ?
In what form is it on the backlog?? Is it a right click on a squiggly word. Can i spell check after sending ? (instead of .... / dropdown / edit highlight type etc ) . Also would like to be able to F2 to edit a previous post instead of the convoluted edit process

Is it still "on the backlog"? Every day I need to flip between English and Spanish in Teams Chat, and it should be a simple option check to include Spanish as a language! Where are we on this?
Multiple Teams operate in multiple languages. Often those are prescribed by contract clauses and you are bound to communicate in a certain language.
A team member is typically more dependant on multi language support in non native languages especially in respect of inline spell check and Thesaurus.
We really wonder how it never occured to admins and product Managers at Microsoft that this is an issue when working in international Teams. Unfortunately MS again bullies the rest of the world with ignorant arrogance and 'US only matters' attitudes.
Even while I write These lines in perfect English text, Microsoft automatically has the spell checker germanize it automatically. A behaviour you also get in your French or english Teams Chats.
And your product Management downplays that issue? For the last three years? Arrogance and cheap unprofessionalsm is Microsoft's state of the art.

I work in a multi-language company and a multi-language spell check is a must to have.
I write in 6 different languages to my colleagues in the company and errors should be really avoid.
Just being able to select your own language would be a good start - it seems very arrogant of Microsoft to assume it's good enough to allow us just US English and three others. Microsoft have been dealing with spell-checking in different languages for ages - it's hard to imagine that they shouldn't be able to offer us a normal choice of languages we need to chat in.

It would be great to have multilingual spelling capability for MS Teams. It is already available for many other applications.
I am using four languages currently for job.

Certainly for MacOS you could use the native spellchecker?

and in the mean time, add an option to quickly either disable or enable the (current) spelling check.
Everything in red because writing in our own language (non english) is kind of annoying and distracting

It would be also nice if there was a translator too.
Some chat rooms you can type the message in your native language and the other people read it in their native language.
