Spell check in multiple languages
It would be nice if it was possible to have the Teams desktop app in one languge and spell checking in multiple languge and at the same time customize date and time format.
E.g. I would like to have Teams in English, have spell checking in English and Danish, and have date and time format in "Danish".

Thank you for your feedback! We are happy to share that users who write different messages in different languages, will now see spellchecking relevant to the language they are actively using when typing a message while using the Microsoft Teams Desktop App on Windows.

Hi,
For which languages is this feature available at the moment? -

is still not good.
What if I'm in a MacOSX?
What if I'm in an English windows10 using spanish keyboard?
what if I only have one keyboard layout and msteams does not guess correctly the language?Really, is it so hard to add a contextual menu or a button saying "Languages" ? . As example, Firefox and thunderbird have them

Hi, curious. I am an O365 Navigator for WSP. With the chat language set to English (New Zealand) the spelling alerts are still heavily Americanised. I am alerted to "catalogue", "standardise" etc. etc. (at least here I can get away with catalogue ... but not standardise. MS Teams also appears not to accommodate adding to dictionaries.

As it is nice, that you implemented something which allows for spell-checking in different languages, the imo most important function is still missing: deactivate the spell check completely!
Please, not everyone wants to have spell check at all and the curly red lines are driving me mad, when I use acronyms, some kind of special words or writing in another language which is not recognized! -

im on version 1.4.00.2879 and the feature is not yet implemented. at list not for the Greek language.
So what the Admin Alex says is partial true.

Dear friends, to me too - working in an international company and having friends in/from several countries, a multi-language spell check is a standard feature I am astonished not to have in Teams....

Multi-Language spell checks on the backlog. Okay, its not Nov 2019 but Feb 2021 and the spell check option seems to be a hard nut for Microsoft Teams - are you serious? English would be a starting point after more than a year of requests. Thanks for listening to your users.

In Mac this is still not working.
I've never seen the message asking if I'm using spanish that is shown here:

any updates? -

Hello, will there be new updates? When will it be available. It's a pain to work with just english when you have to contact with a lot of people around. I need to use an external app to use that. This is hilarious! Please care to update teams. It's since 2019... 2019???!!!!

We have users in the US, Belgium, Germany and China. Any multinational organisation is going to want to be able to spellcheck in multiple languages, depending upon the audience whether it be by Team, Channel or even Post.

How can this take this long? Backlog since before 11/2019 - now 1/2021.
When I have O365 on the machine with the correct spell check why can the "embedded" Word inside Teams *not* use that?Although it's possible to "Set Proofing Language..." for a given file once inside the "embedded" Word instance but there seems to be no way to have that selection as default. It always reverts back to English.

weirdly enough, this suggestion does not show in the 'Languages/Translation' sections.
as much as I like uservoice, it's rather difficult to find similar ideas and support them, so everyone just submits a new idea and you end up with an insignificant amount of votes for each...

With students across the world learning languages, having a 2nd language installed is critical, but at the price of having Teams spell check not working, not a great trade off.

Also need to make sure like all other Office suite applications that you have the ability to "Add to dictionary", should be a 101 feature on Office applications.

Spell check and language detection for Norwegian and English.
I usually write the same language to the same person in a specific chat.
A feature would be to set the autocorrect language per chat thread. -
