improve speed of scrolling up in chats
a ton of time is wasted waiting for chat text to appear then to find that its not what you were looking for
please preload more data or reduce the delay on loading the content like google hang outs does, its much smoother scrolling thru history
its difficult to navigate thru recent history when its all blocks
Agree here. Scrolling back through the chat takes a long time, which is frustrating if you're looking for older content.

Please, this. History is just too frustrating to think about trying to access right now.
I can't believe this hasn't gotten more votes. History is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO painful to use at the moment. And it wouldn't matter so much if search wasn't so bad too. Whole word search is completely impractical.

And would also be good to be able to click on the date bar between messages and select to scroll to a different point in history. Skype used to have this, but looks like the feature was removed in v8 skype :(
All conversations should be cached locally for as long as possible. The cache size should be a sensible default, but with options to set it manually. Search should look through the cache first and present results before hitting the server.
Can you ffs speed up history? It's so f***ing slow.
Imposible to search by listing. Sometime its only possible
Another popular request. The amount of disk space required to cache all text in every pane, window, and channel would be minuscule compared to the size of modern disks, especially if compressed.
There should be a setting which sets the maximum cache space that should be used for text, images, etc., in much the same way as for web browsers.
Why does teams need to load past chats? To save 50k of space? I need chats history now, not 5 second wait on every scroll
The amount of storage required to cache conversations would be small compared to modern disk sizes. All messages should be cached locally for speed, although there should also be a setting to configure maximum local cache size.

Scrolling through past messages in chat or search is too slow to be useful to do on big threads. Often instead of searching for what someone said yesterday, people just ask again because it is so annoying. It defeats the propose of communicating well the first time, because you will be asked again anyway.
i agrea, its way to slow.

One thing you can do that seems to help is to remove the log.txt and old_logs....text files. For Windows open this folder in File Explorer -> %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams
Then remove the logs. I don't think this is a fix...just a workaround.

Browsing chat history is difficult even in case of only few days old messages because these are not loaded on time when scrolling.
I would like the ability to cache chat hostory locally for selected channels and decide how much time of the history I want to be available locally.

Yeah, everything just feels sluggish in Teams. Both Slack and Discord for example are much more snappy and is much more pleasurable to use.

The use case is searching back through a chat to find that one interesting nugget of conversation that you and your coworkers had the previous day.
I find that scrolling through history and then returning to the current chat is an exercise in frustration.
It takes a surprisingly long time for previous chat history to appear (and when you're not sure exactly where the text was, it may take several rounds of reloads to find what you're looking for). It would be really helpful to speed this up.
Even if it's difficult to speed that part up, teams only appears to store a small window of chat conversation at time, so scrolling back down to the latest conversation requires one or more delays again to reload the most recent conversation. Could that text at least be saved locally?

Every time I click on a pop up message in my desktop, it takes a few seconds to load. It's not very smooth like slack. The responsiveness is not great at all and hope this can be worked on.
Interface has a lot of lag and requires massive improvements. I cant quickly scroll through the lists in activity area. Same is many other area particularly when the conversation has lot of messages.
