improve speed of scrolling up in chats
a ton of time is wasted waiting for chat text to appear then to find that its not what you were looking for
please preload more data or reduce the delay on loading the content like google hang outs does, its much smoother scrolling thru history
its difficult to navigate thru recent history when its all blocks

It takes a couple of seconds to load conversations when scrolling just a couple of screens. And then I have to wait to load the most recent conversation when I scroll back down.

also could we have a way to skip back in history, say by week or month, to a selected date?

Scrolling up through history in our Windows 10 locally installed Teams app is incredibly slow for our users. This really needs to be resolved. We do not see this issue on the teams mobile app.
Using search functionality is not a satisfactory replacement on top of the issues that we have with the search feature (i.e. cannot search a specific thread).

I just switched to Teams from Slack and already regretting it. MS, can you please fix this? I seriously can't believe this has not already been fixed in spite of so many users complaining about it.

Gah! OSX is reporting an increase in memory usage of roughly 5mb per page of messages loaded.

The further you scroll back, the longer it takes for messages to load. It's ridiculous. I know I have to scroll back to the 7th May 2019, because I've searched for the message and I can see *one* message. Now to see the context around that single message, I have to manually scroll back 3 months. If you're not going to fix the scroll lag, then at least show +/- 3 or 4 messages around the search results...

They will not fix it.. their fix will be to wait until regular skype is completely gone, and then between then and when the folks who have business skype hosted internally can no longer use that.. Then they will get around to fixing it.. We just went back to slack and its amazing.. Remember Microsoft... if your answer is "there is no fix" OUR answer is to use tools that don't have that problem. But who knows.. maybe they want to get out of the chat business and let it die on the vine..
I simply don't understand why you cannot make local cache file have a size limit before splitting.. or have a new local cache file every day and be able to modify the settings to suite your needs..

when you scroll back to historical messages and you see greyed out blocks - click with mouse on them several times and then messages load much quicker. So basically you scroll-click-click and force Teams to load messages. Helped me go back in 2 months history much quicker. Strange behavior though.

This is a minor issue but it makes the application far harder to use than Slack. If I had the choice, I'd choose Slack over Teams primarily for this reason.

The 'choppy' scrolling in teams is both distracting and annoying - please consider fixing it.

Scrolling back down faces the same issue.
Unacceptable for a 'productivity' tool. -

One of the reasons of choosing Teams is because of the history feature but it doesn't works. It takes a lot of time to display and it's buggy. When you are scrolling back, suddenly the screen returns to current date page, you lose a lot time going back to previous dates but suddenly current date chat is displayed and you have to start again from current date.

It would be great to be able to scroll to a specific date (see screen shot from Google Photos). This allows someone who knows a conversation took place on a specific date to scroll to that point in history without scrolling through EVERYTHING that happened in-between.

Please local cache the loaded message. The lazy loading for chat history is killing me.

The load times for older messages is actually much faster on the MS Teams website versus the desktop application. Can we please improve this in the desktop application
Thanks.

This wouldn't be difficult to fix. Somewhere in the code or config you'd be choosing how many lines, messages or bytes of text is being cached locally, and it's probably hard coded to about 1KB, for fear perhaps that the user's computer will run our of memory (thanks) but meanwhile I look in the task manager and Teams is gobbling up 308MB.
Or perhaps not. Perhaps the tech behind teams isn't able to scale up to a few thousand lines of text so the Microsoft engineers have had to cap history at about 50 lines at a time. Sad.

Sorry for the second post, but I need scroll up now for 2018 June 18 and I very, very regret the time spent.
