Add user setting to NOT collapse message threads as default
Our users spend way too much time trying to find previous posts that are hidden because they've been automatically collapsed.
Like in Slack, it is much better if by default, no message threads are collapsed.
In user settings, have a setting to "Collapse threads as default" - ON or OFF.
Attached screenshot shows collapsed thread which HIDES info we often are looking for - such a waste of time and very frustrating.
The "sticky" behavior described in a previous comment would be great, but I would settle for simply being able to disable auto-collapse entirely. In my experience it has rarely been helpful and is constantly a detriment, making it difficult and inefficient to find what I'm looking for. PLEASE fix this. It was a really bad idea in the first place.

In particular, the current behavior makes doing work that requires referring to multiple sources of information impossible. If I need to switch back and forth between two long threads on different channels, I have to spend an extended period of time expanding each one every time I switch channels.
Ideally the behavior would be "sticky" on a per-thread basis--once a thread was expanded, it would stay expanded regardless of channel switching until deliberately closed. And expanding should be a one click operation, not requiring many clicks for a single thread.

this is great idea!
We want users to be able to set the content posted in long text to either [Simple display] or [Detailed display] by default.
