Add actual Contact List functionality for chats
The current design/implementation for chats is terrible. Just create a way to create a contact list with the ability to sort people into "groups". Every other chat client does this. If this could be done, it would make Teams a lot more useable. If companies are expected to use Teams as a true collaboration tool, one of the biggest features are chat, which it currently sucks at (when compared to tools like Slack, HipChat, Trillian, etc.).

Completely agree. The 'Suggested' contacts are terrible, and not everyone in my Team shows up. Search functionality is hit or miss with a very large organization. Would like to be able to add groups and a contact list.
This is one of two things keeping us on Slack (and by far the biggest). I am confident that if this was in place (and in app, not through some web portal), we would go ahead and make the move. Releasing a business class app without a way to create personal contact lists (A.K.A. buddy lists) is something I will never understand.
I have worked at a company that had over 3k people just in IT. That would be insane with the current setup, leaving me to question whether the folks in MS use their own product.

My organization's users are also pretty adamant about wanting this functionality. We're making the move to teams because skype for business so frequently fails to deliver messages (it can't do its one job) and sucks for technical communications and code formatting.
Moving to teams, the biggest complaint I hear is that there is no functionality for creating contact lists by users who frequently work with one another.
This is definitely a huge pain point for a great deal of our users (I don't really care about it, as long as it delivers messages) and I need our organization fully behind the adoption of this platform because we're stuck with it (I'd much rather be using slack, but we're stuck with teams and it at least can deliver messages consistently.)
