How can we make Microsoft Teams better?

Add Click-to-dial for tel protocol. Our staff makes a lot of calls and has to copy and paste phone numbers right now. Would love to see an option for Teams to handle "tel:" protocol or another option for the ability to click-to-dial phone numbers within a web browser. This needs to be supported on Windows and Mac.

    This already works for a majority of my users - you have to go into your default apps setting and set the TEL protocol to use Teams.

    The real uservoice here should be a setup step that sets this as default (or asks to set as default).

    As far as calling phone numbers in outlook and other areas, it would be nice if Outlook or better yet, on a WINDOWS level, phone numbers are automatically detected and treated as TEL: protocol.

    Now, when I click a phone number in Dynamics 365 it wants to open Skype. Teams would be the better choice these days!

    I have this working for me. In Windows 10, go to
    Settings>Apps>Default Apps
    Scroll to bottom and select Choose default applications by protocol
    Change app for TEL and CALLTO to Microsoft Teams
    Get "Telephone Number Detection" Chrome Plugin and all numbers in Chrome are clickable and will open Teams when clicked.

    I echo the sentiment that my 2005 NEC soft phone integration has this highlight+hotkey functionality to dial any number from any other screen. This should be possible with MS Teams!

    I have an old 2005 softphone that has this function. You can set a hotkey to send any copied text to the dial pad. Of course it fails if it is not a phone number but it is still very useful.

    Hi Everyone... I spoke to our Microsoft account team about this desired feature as well as this affects the ability for a very large customer to make phone calls from their current CRM system. I will post any updates I receive from MSFT here.

    Consider supporting this feature via TAPI/CSTA or other standard CTI protocols and it would allow a long list of software applications to quickly provide functionality with Teams for Click to dial as well as answer call popups when receiving an incoming call.

    It is not that difficult to have an API to make a call. Very handy for people that call all the time.

    Hum, lets see posts in this thread go back 2 years and there are 421 votes. Does anyone read this?

    We bought Teams to dial from Outlook, and it does that from the basic Contacts view (not People view), but once you open a contact card the only way to dial is copy and paste.

    Teams should recognize a phone in ANY content (Browser, PDF, DOC, XLS, TXT, etc.) and dial it. It should work a LOT better with Outlook.

    Please modify the click-to-dial format to remove the space after the country code in Teams bridge numbers. Participants that use an Android phone to dial into the meeting are unable to use the click-to-dial format and have to manually dial the number.

    Tel: does trigger dialing in Teams.

    Its just broken and doesn’t handle the syntax properly.

    The "Join Teams Meeting" button, in outlook, generates the following URL in the invite which Teams can't process itself.

    tel:+1%20647-749-0000,,111111111# (I modified the conference number)

    It tries to dial but fails.

    Let's face it ...This is just another example of a product that should be in Beta. We are forced to sell other HPBX products that plug into Teams. I am hoping to simplify by adding Teams as our default HPBX but have been struggling with bugs and "features that will be implemented in the future" for over a year. Come on Microsoft!
