I'm missing some chat history
I have a chat with 2 colleagues. I saw some messages from one colleague in our chat on my Android phone on my way to work. When I got to work and started Teams for Windows 10 I started chatting with my colleague again, but I was missing a big chunk of the conversation history. Any idea what might be going on? It’s a real bummer not knowing if I’m missing messages. Especially weird that I saw it in one client (Android) but not the other (Windows 10).

Yeah, we now communicate using whatsapp, because Teams is too buggy if communicating between different companies

I had the same issue and found that clearing Teams cache solved it. I followed this:

I have a similar/potentially related issue, except it seems to be affecting channel messages.
I get notifications in the activity feed that I've been tagged or someone replied to a conversation I'm in on a channel, but on clicking through the notification I can't see the message. Similarly, I'm often missing messages in channel conversations I'm not involved in.
The web/browser based app also seems to have this bug. I've yet to confirm for certain, but it looks like the iOS app isn't affected (messages don't seem to be missing there).
On the Mac/web app, the only workaround seems to be to log out of Teams and log back in.
Me and numerous other colleagues at our company are experiencing this issue - so it's rather frustrating. It also makes us wonder how many important messages we might have missed.
Happy to provide any additional info if necessary.

Signing out is not an option as the Host as I would lose everyone that is signed in. When I am signed in and the Chats are going on, if anyone else signs in after that they can not see the previous Chats. That is my issue. I need the Chats to stay visible to everyone as they join the meeting during different times.

Just had this happen with someone in my company. Two people were having a conversation and one of them replied with 4 separate chat messages. 2 of the 4 made to the other person's screen. The rest of the messages all worked flawlessly.
The only reason we know about is because the "missing response" was the one with the answer and they were asking why didn't you answer it. No logging or reports available to help diagnose this one. And extremely difficult to catch.

I did experience the issue the other day. Come on Microsoft it can't be under review for over 2 years, right?

I have several hours of chat missing in my teams app, even after restarting the whole PC. Luckily, I can see everything in the web client. I am surprised this bug still exists, super annoying to be excluded from a conservation between colleagues because of technical problems...

Its an old issue that is still happening, really this should be addressed and fixed immediately. Both my iPhone and my desktop are missing the same information. I opened a service ticket and the agent had very little information on this. Signing out and back in did not work, I also removed and re-added user to include all history and we can't even get history past July 23rd which makes absolutely no sense.

Did anyone get a solution to this problem? I see the post is pretty old but the status is still under review.

I am having the same issue. I have notifications set to occur on my iPhone Microsoft TEAMs application. These notifications are usually in sync with conversations real time. But, if I am using my desktop application(with a Dell laptop using the actual downloaded TEAMs program) The messages my colleagues send are either delayed, or do not show up at all, and I end up having to look at my iPhone for messages while using my computer to conduct the video conference. Which causes me to miss important information, such as hyperlinks being shared via chat, often.

I had similar problems and have found a suggestion that worked for me. Sign out from MS-Teams and sign-in again.

The problem is that you still don't know when you have started missing messages in the history as some show up and some don't. Perhaps one needs to sign-out and back in every time they start using MS Teams -

This issue, in addition to chats appearing as "Just Me", users being told that they are not part of chats, chat history missing, chats vanishing, people being removed randomly from Teams and being unable to join again, people being told that they cannot chat in a Team because they are no longer a member and a multitude of other issues have been plaguing our Teams Tenant since August 2019. I've had multiple tickets open with Microsoft support, the support personnel, who are very helpful, get the issue higher up the chain only to be told that it is a known issue and that a fix is being worked on. Please give us an update as to when you expect a fix as this is impacting our business quite badly.

This has happened several times. During a meeting, I can only see my own posts in the chat window. Afterwards, I can see others too. It's really important to have access to all the posts during the meeting too.

I posted some examples in a channel chat for students to follow around 6 hours ago, and these were visible in the desktop App on my mac. Around 3 hours later, our departmental administrator sent students an email with a direct link to the channel where the examples are. (I had spent some time before hand testing this with her, after taking advice from our ITS team, and subsequently organising with her to send a meeting link to the channel for the upcoming class next week). After she sent the link, I tested it myself on three devices, my iMac, my PC laptop and my iPhone. The meeting link was visible in the channel on all devices in both the browser and in the App, but the examples I had posted in the chat had disappeared from the App on my PC laptop, and the chrome browser on my iMac. They were visible in the App on my iMac, and the chrome browser on my PC laptop, as well as in the App on my iPhone. But that's not all. Ten minutes later, they were no longer visible in the chrome browser on my PC laptop....WTF??

I found the same issues twice in April. Both of them are very important meeting that I need to take Miunute of Meeting. But I can't find the chat history, so I can't get the participant list. Please fix it.

This seems more like a bug than a feature

I had a similar issue with chat during a Teams meeting. A couple of the meeting attendees could not see any chat history prior to their joining the meeting, but others who joined the meeting later on were able to see the full chat history. I have tried to replicate this and "joined" a meeting from a couple of days ago that I was not a participant of, and I could see all of the meeting chat history. One of my colleagues tried exactly the same thing, but they saw no chat history.
Is there a configuration setting that controls this behaviour?
