Read-Only Files
I would like to be able to adjust member settings such that members only have read-only access to files. Otherwise, the ability to make some files read-only access by members would be another way of accomplishing this. That way only owners can edit it.

Agreed. This would be really helpful. Right now, I am sharing files from OneDrive with the access I want, but things are getting very messy.

Yes, I agree. In my case I have certain folders and files on Teams I want team members to grab files out of and change but I want them to save them to a different folder under a different name so as to not destroy my template files. A key example here is a software deployment test plan. Everyone is encouraged to save a copy and update it as they test the items in their area but I want to preserve the master copy where no one can edit it.

Couldn't you make this file read only in the SharePoint side of the house? That is really a file level thing right? So if the FILE itself is read only, people couldn't change it

We need much more granular security at a user level. I want to share information but not let everyone modify it. I want to share just a channel with someone, not the whole team.

I would love Teams to be able to do this!
There is information managers need to share but don't want others to edit.
Right now the options are only, share with everyone (and everyone being capable of editing) or not sharing at all.
