Share system audio during meetings
During meetings we need to be able to share an online video with team members. Videos could be in Stream or Youtube or Vimeo or others. And this includes sharing the video sound. Currently we use normal Teams screen sharing, but all team members on the call can either hear or see, the video/audio are always asynchronous.

Share video and audio during meetings is released on Windows. Mac support is currently being tested internally and is targeted to release soon. We will share an update as soon as one is available.
Please track the roadmap item for release updates, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=Microsoft%20Teams&searchterms=68941
Note: Live Events support for video and audio is tracked in this item, https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/38470144

Are you trying to get Mac users switch to Windows devices or something? Because that is NOT gonna happen. Just release it already, everybody is hurting because of this!
Unbelievable...

Garbage. Microsoft is absolute garbage. Alex, you are trash at your job, and your team is trash at their job. I have not met one person who has something good to say about this program. As if I needed another reason to never buy a Microsoft product again. THIS WAS PROMISED IN ******* AUGUST. I have a feeling the country will be vaccinated before this gets done. Prove me wrong.

This upgrade was promised for 3rd quarter 2020. Is there any update? Has this release been pushed back? Looking at your Roadmap, there are no features being developed for Mac right now, contrary to your post here Alex. As many teachers, especially in Ontario, have been forced to use MS Teams over every other product, this is especially important for us to be able to meet the government mandates for Synchronous learning. Not only should this problem be resolved for Macs, but the Web edition as well, considering that a vast majority of the systems that our government is sharing with teachers are Chromebooks. Macs are generally personal systems.

It's coming:
"The Microsoft Teams desktop app for MacOS will soon allow users include their computer’s sound when sharing either their desktop or a window in a meeting."
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 67168 and 67169. (# not roadmap 68941??)
When this will happen
Rollout for production and GCC tenants begins in late January and should be complete in early February 2021.
Rollout for GCCH and DoD tenants begins in mid-February and should be complete by late February 2021.
How this will affect your organizationWith this update, Mac users can share audio from their speakers with other meeting participants, such as when they share a video with sound as part of a collective viewing experience.
This feature will be available to all Mac users in your tenant unless you have set the ScreenSharingMode policy to None.
This feature requires a one-time installation of an audio driver. Users will be prompted to install the audio driver when they select Include computer sound from the Share content tray in a meeting. Once installed, users can freely toggle the functionality on or off before or after they start sharing a desktop or window.
*** And the Revised In-meeting Share Experience with 'include computer sound' will be available for Mac by Mid-March 2021

As a teacher forced to teach remotely due to lockdowns, this is a MUST HAVE. I don’t want to buy a new non-mac laptop just to do this one thing. Come on Microsoft!!

Unacceptable. If there is in fact a technical problem delaying this functionality, please do your best to let your customers know this. The consensus is that you are ignoring the issue and therefore your customers. Lack of updates on your progress seems to be confirming this.

Terrible that this is not a feature, in fact, Microsoft Teams is really lacking on the iPad in many ways.

Is there no way Microsoft can give an actual formal update to this problem which is causing huge stress for Teams users around the world? It's a significant issue particularly for teachers who are really struggling to deliver lessons.

Seriously what is happening with this? Why is it taking so long? We need this feature please.

Incredible. This is a must feature. Why is is so hard to solve this audio feature for Mac? Unfortunately I cannot switch to zoom, as the school is bound to Teams, but would love to!!!

What absolute rubbish... Microsoft people have given glib answers about this since early 2020. There's a myriad of reasons why the company would not favour this simple ability in the O365 environment... but their actual behaviour says "we don't care about Mac users" in bold capital letters.
Click on Alex's links and you find 1/ NOTHING about the supposed development 2/links to actioning of Teams for Windows desktop.
This is so appalling a response from a self-interested company at a time of global stress.

This really should go faster in this Corona Times. Basic functionality missing for alot of people. Most people are forced to use Teams due license agreements........

Still not fixed? Seriously? This was supposed to be delivered for Macs in Q3 of 2020. Schools and universities were convinced to go the MS Teams route but essential functionality is still missing 10 months into home-working.

Thank you for sharing this idea. This is a huge painpoint and still has not been resolved. Knowing that there are so many people/organizations that are working from home and need access to these features through MAC it is very disappointing to see this is not available yet but can be accessed through Windows. It makes sense that this feature would be blocked due to competition but is sad that I literally have to partition or use a virtual box in order to access the Windows side of my MAC to do something as simple as sharing audio.

Is there a more specific target date for releasing Teams update to allow audio sharing on iOS devices? Last I saw was Jan 2021 and today’s the 20th. Speech pathologists in educational settings w combo of virtual and face-to-face therapy services find it waaaaay too cumbersome to interface through Zoom platform into Teams (bc our district was assured it would meet the need of educators) just to get sound to share videos we’ve been using for years now.
PLEASE prioritize this update w the extra profit Microsoft is collecting from underfunded school districts across the country that were convinced this would suit the needs of students and staff during this pandemic. PLEASE!!!! -

Much needed.

But hey at least we have "Customizable Praise Badges". No need for audio right, Microsoft?

Microsoft did a great job convincing all those schools to use Teams. Now all of us musicians / music teachers - who are having a horrible time due to lockdowns - are forced to use Teams. How are you still focused on implementing other stuff with less necessity? This should be your no. 1 priority as millions of teachers are on a Mac.
Unbelievable that this is still not fixed. I wish I could just use Zoom, but can't due to school policies. Thanks a lot Microsoft for making a teachers job even more difficult in this time.

Any news when this likely to roll out - three months testing should be enough... even if it can be a Preview for now?

Can we just get this bloody released?!?!?!??! Please?! It's been long enough! Full country teaching remotely and Mac users (MUSIC teachers in this case) unable to share system audio??? Laughable tbh.
