hyperlinking to a chat user
(NOTE - This is the second time I am posting this as the last time it was inappropriately merged into https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17137732-hyperlink-any-text-in-chat which has nothing to do with this request. It is a little frustrating that I can't even get to my original post in order to copy and paste - I need to recreate it from scratch.)
It would be very helpful to have the ability to hyperlink INTO a chat with a given user. We relied on this heavily while using Skype and it is a very nice feature to be able to embed into other internal applications.
E.g. in Skype we could use:
<a href="skype:myuser?call">Call User</a>
<a href="skype:myuser?chat">Chat with User</a>
Could we please allow for the same linking INTO Teams from 3rd party applications?
Please see related discuss here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Teams/Hyperlinking-from-a-web-page-into-Teams-Chat/m-p/134506#M9672

This https://email@example.com doesnt work for me. It opens Teams, but does not start a chat with one or more people. I need a way to have a feature like we use to initiate help desk chats in Skype for Business. Currently all you have to do is:
I cannot documentation or examples where you can start a chat with multiple people in Teams from a web url.
just use this url format

This is from SKYPE
if this is run via run command in windows it will open a chat window
Something similar to this in TEAMS
You can do this by Deep linking - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/platform/concepts/deep-links#deep-linking-to-a-chat.
But this is unsatisfactory because the link doesn't take you directly into a chat in Teams; it takes you to a confusing launcher page that your average user will give up on.
Sort this out - https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/31308418-deep-links and we'd be happy.
Roy F, great workaround, but it requires colleagues to be already authenticated on the web version of Teams, as I'm sure you know.
Come on MS, make it possible to create URLs that open Teams.app chats directly (on Mac and Win alike).

This would actually for once be a very helpful feature of Teams. I would love to see this and be able to put a "Chat with me" Link in my wiki profile for example.

Others at my company (Liliana and Courtnee) showed me how to do this. It's slightly cumbersome, so I consider it a workaround, not a fix, but it works:
Steps to get a link to someone else:
1. Open online Teams, click on Chat.
2. Start a chat with the person for whom you want to create a chat link.
3. Click on tab Organization (done to get off of tab Conversations).
4. Hover over their image (upper left), when the popup is presented, click Chat.
5. Copy the resultant URL, which will have the form:
You can't initiate a chat with yourself, but you can manually create it by getting your orgid and pasting it into the above URL.
Steps to get your own orgid:
1. Open online Delve
2. Click on Me (upper left, below Home).
3. Copy your orgid from the URL shown, which is of the form:
You can then create a chat link to yourself by pasting your orgid into:

Configuring this into a mail signature and adding to a web page for contact are excellent examples of where this would be useful.
I would like this to be able to insert my personal Chat URL in my email footer. Get busy!
I would love to get this feature!

Looks like this just about got implemented I’ve tested it with manual registry edits to have teams handle sip href. Just need to figure out how to have Teams provide the registration on its own
It would be great to have something like this in Teams link for a specific user and start chat with this user
