functionality to send email to all members in team
Can we add functionality to send email to whole team at once. I am not sure if it is already there.
Updating status based on comment from community member. Will update again when we receive further giving info on the scenario.

We implemented this in our organization, but I believe our IT guru had to do it from the Admin Console. The Team has to be built there to get this functionality. I'm having the same issue on other teams that were not built this way. Wonder if you use the get email address, which would send an email to the Team itself, then set up a flow to distribute to the members? just a thought
please implement this, it should have been there all along
I'd vote, but I don't want any junk mail. It's absurd that this is not part of Teams.

I ended up on this page because I use Teams for work and figured I just didnt know how to properly email an entire Team at once. I am taken aback that this is not a feature. I still have to create a separate address list in Outlook and it isnt efficient.

As a member of a large organization that is implementing Teams, we often find it necessary to email Team members to make sure that they receive a message. Just because a message is posted in a Teams Channel, there is no way to track who has actually seen a message. Using Outlook and receipts, this can be accomplished. Currently, we cannot use the list of Team Members in Teams to generate an email.
We would like to be able to use the Group associated with a Team to initiate this, and we would like this to be a function available as part of the Team menu (...)

I have the Office 365 and am a novice computer user, even though I have been using computers for several years, there are still things I am not sure of. This Pandemic has been stressful for all of us in many ways. I used to call the MS Store for help with problems, but since the Pandemic, the phone calls direct me to Support Help on the internet. Your sites are very confusing for me as a novice thus, they are not helpful.
My service to Office 365 was denied due to nonpayment. Nonpayment was due to my bank account being hacked and I had to renew my bank card, which the Office 365 monthly payment came out of.
After the issuance of the new card, I tried to switch payment to come out of my checking account via check routing & checking account number instead of the debit card, which would not deter Automatic Payment Withdrawals.
However, being a novice as I said earlier, I paid three times within three days, the pass due amount twice and a “New Service” once from a different bank account and changed my password three or four times as well, not knowing or understanding how to activate or enter the system, (and the websites were not truly clear to me).
With my understanding, due to this Pandemic, Support Teems were working from home. Isn’t there a way I could contact a “Live” person to help with support?

If I open outlook, create an email and type @<channel name>, I get the teams channel distributed via outlook...
Through experimentation, this only seems to work if I am the channel admin or the creator of the channel (not sure which).
Actually there is already an email address for team members available on the SharePoint Site belonging to the TEAM. What would be useful is showing that email address using the same procedure as in the SharePoint Group
To get the email address:
1) Hover over or click SHAREPOINT GROUP NAME
2) Details will appear
3) Click "Send email"
Would be nice to mass email select certain members as well. So two options:
1. Email entire Team
2. Email Select Members of Team
Just adding to Alberto comment. I had to enable through Outlook on line.
To get over being Owner and not a member I "invited" myself to join the group.
Left Menu bar-- Groups---owners--"your group"--in the main window right click on group name select invite and invite yourself. This way you should get emails as well.
You and the other owners will be sent an approval email--accept it.
Back to the group name right click and go into edit.
Tick Subscription to allow emails to be sent to users email account directly.
You can then send email either directly from outlook or through teams as Alberto highlighted.
You can do it by clicking on the 3 dots to the right of the channel, "Share to Outlook" and then in the "TO' field, just send it to @TheNameOfTheGroup.
What happened to the TEAMs contact group by TEAM name? That was a such a time consuming feature when scheduling a meeting or emailing. Please consider bringing it back.

I understand that Teams was conceived to replace absurd amount of email threads, however our users are missing the possibility to mail everybody in a team... even if limited to the group owners.
This possibility, maybe unknown by most site owners in SP is available in the Group Actions...
This feature should not had been disregarded in Teams, a tool mainly conceived for communications and teamworking.
THX to consider the inclusion of this function (maybe better only for Teams Owners).
I needed to do this too and I just found something.
In Teams, I clicked the three dots, then 'Open in Sharepoint', then on the left of that window is menu item called 'Conversations'. Clicking that opened Outlook Web, with an option to send an email to email address for the channel. Don't know why it's so hidden but it seems to work!
Who tests these tools. So many missing obvious features :( Definitely need this functionality. Should be able to create a distro group from the Teams members - overall and per secure channel. Should be able to "unsecure" a secure channel and vice versa.
Scenario : a teacher creates a Team for his class, with private channels for group work. Being able to message everyone at once on Teams and by email by using the Teams / channel emails ensures more seamless communication.
It's ridiculous that we have to maintain a separate distribution list to send ordinary emails to all team members - some of whom are guests and not signed into our Team most of the time. This functionality is critical - the members of some of our teams are resorting to whatsapp because team members are simply not seeing messages!
I would really need two functionalities:
1) When I am in teams and I post something, to have a choice that allows me to also send the post as an email to all members
2) In an email to be able to specify a channel's email address that basically makes the channel behave as a list server: all members will receive my message (as well as the message being posted to the channel) with the possibility for team's members to reply to the channel address
THIS IS A MUST-FUNCTION to be implemented. I can't believe that this is not available....
