Please allow users to choose an IRC-like format for Chat
Right now, chat is displayed in bubbles, almost like an SMS text message. In my opinion, it should be changed to look like IRC (no bubbles, text displayed as a “wall” almost).
Many other chat clients do this (Discord, Slack, HipChat), and I think it lends itself very well to group chat. At the very least, an option to change between display styles would be MUCH appreciated.
A thousand times this. It only makes trying to read through things much more hard to follow. Personally, I'd also like to be able to disable threading as well as its not actually useful and again just makes things hard to follow.

Yeah, even the compact mode request to Microsoft was never accepted.

This would be perfect if implemented on a per-channel basis, however, it would be even more awesome if the user on the end got the choice to enable it just for client side view.
The amount of whitespace for simple things in Teams makes the client almost impossible to use in real world incident management.

This has been a very popular request. The main thread was started over 2 years ago, and it's nearly a year since Microsoft acknowledged that they were working on it.
