do not send messages when <enter> is pressed. change to another shortcut key.
I have to edit my messages several times because every time I press enter for a Carriage Return, it sends instead. I know the shortcut key for Carriage Return is SHIFT+ENTER but its not very intuitive and makes for miscommunication. Thank you for your consideration.
Please fix it, its a Bug. Let me choose how to send the Message...
Give MS a break. The fact that any other company could fix it in an hour shouldn't mean MS should be able to figure that their feature is really a bug in less than 3 months, or perhaps ever. They may be too busy adding a graphic effect like shooting stars to be able to focus on actual improvements.
A 'No brainer'. As an aside, though very important one I feel...
Why can I not vote without agreeing to have updates sent?? We have become blinded by the 'you need to agree', 'you can opt out anytime' line... Of course, the latter is not true, I can't opt out now it seems...
Please... help us!!! Provide us a option menu!!!
I've had more awkward moments than I can count....
PLEASE SET <enter> to be carriage return, NOT SEND!! LEET ME CHOOSE! I keep sending incomplete message that can sometimes be misinterpreted because of this bad interface decision by microsoft!

Control Enter (Win) or Command Enter (Mac) should be configurable to send messages.
Please Please Please change Enter to go to the next line! Every single message I type sends me crazy with confusion and accidental half-written messages.
Please, please, please allow for this to be set within the Keyboard Shortcuts menu. Going back and forth all day between emails and Teams chats, and trying to remember that a carriage return actually sends a Teams chat is so frustrating. I send so many "half-chats" because of this.
I have this problem on my cell phone using Teams and is from the last weekend.
Pressing Enter I take a new row and I can't send anything
I am working with my phone and I am crazy about it
Why can't they just fix this stupid issue???
Please, please, please!
Please provide this option
In Slack, you can set as preference to send with Ctrl+Enter and have a new paragraph with Enter. They listen to their users.
Here's my take. Give us the option to use Enter or Ctrl-Enter to send, as Ctrl-Enter is already an option for sending messages in Outlook.
What annoys me is that I learned the hard way that when making bulleted lists, you have to press Enter to get a new list item, but since Enter is how you send a single-line message, it is completely counter-intuitive on the fact that Enter (when in the context of lists, at least) won't actually send your message but will give you a new list item.
I would much rather use Ctrl-Enter consistently to send a message and always have Enter give me a new line. I get that not everyone likes that, so make it a preference we can select, please.

After thinking about this issue, I understand the need for a quick reply feature. However, since the user is presented with a multi-line text area, the UI itself suggests being allowed to use the enter key for paragraphs.
Here is my suggestion: give the user a short-cut key to SEND the message, and don't change the behavior of the enter key. I am thinking the <shift><enter> keystroke may be a good choice. This short-cut key can work in both simple text mode, and in formatted text mode. This will give the user a consistent "quick send" way to send the message, that is consistent in both text modes.
Another idea, is to give the user a settings preference, that will turn off <enter> key as send command.
I have noticed that when the reply is a single line, then hitting enter key sends the message! I find this really annoying, since most of the time, I want to write a multi line message.
I figured out I need to use the <shift><enter> key to enter the next line, and then after that, the enter key behaves normally, and adds lines, instead of sending the message. I can also paste in content, and then the message becomes a multi-line message.
I am guessing this is an attempt by Microsoft to make quick replies convenient, but I always find myself creating short messages that don't mean what I want say. I don't like how the enter key changes behavior depending on the size of the message. Is there any way to turn off this "quick reply" behavior?
By the way, I am loving MS Teams in general!
This is SO important. I've seen half-passwords coming back into our chat because of issues like Daniel Gavin mentioned. This is crucial.
This NEEDS to be an option for users and is waaay too simple to be taking this long to implement. I am so tired of sending half written messages because I'm trying to start a new line in my message or because I accidently hit the enter key. Clicking the format button each time may be a workaround but it is a massive pain for a chat feature that is meant to support FLUID communication between individuals. I get when certain features may appear simple but actually have complex ramifications that have to be worked out, but this is not one of those features. A simple setting option to change the default "Send" keyboard combination away from ENTER is all we're asking for.
I personally am in favor of CTRL+ENTER.
YES please change this!
You simply click the format button and it prevents this.
