do not send messages when <enter> is pressed. change to another shortcut key.
I have to edit my messages several times because every time I press enter for a Carriage Return, it sends instead. I know the shortcut key for Carriage Return is SHIFT+ENTER but its not very intuitive and makes for miscommunication. Thank you for your consideration.

I couldn't agree more!! It's utterly ridiculous that <enter> equals <send> in Teams! Does any other app behave like this?! Should be CR-LF like what - ALL other applications!?

Click the format button as the bottom of the message box and you can type normally.
You have to remember that for each message, but easier then remembering Shift+Enter for every line.
Seems like basic functionality to me.
Would make sense to have this (and other shortcuts) as an Editable keybind, so I can re-bind it to something more intuitive (such as ctrl+enter).
How is this option not configurable in the settings?? So frustrating.
I cannot tell you how ridiculously upset it makes me that I can't just change this setting. It's not a difficult change! It practically makes teams unusable. Do you really want people thinking slack is a better product? (because they do provide options in this department)
should offer ctrl+enter same as outlook uses for sending
consistency between two major apps would be a massive improvement
Beeing able to choose between enter and shift+enter for sending a message is a common pattern in messaging applications and would suit MS Teams very well.

Searching this topic shows a huge number of Teams users asking for this (ability to turn off send-on-enter). When most of your customers tell you the same thing, it's best to listen and act before they find another product that does what they want.
Add my vote for this 'feature'.

This is my biggest frustration with Teams by a long way and the main reason I prefer to use other messaging apps

So disappointed to find that this is not an easy fix for the user. :(
This one is surely critical - at least give users the option to turn this off.
Particularly confusing if you use bullets or numbering because you then HAVE to press <enter>.
I have seen post regarding this topic from 2019... How come this counter-intuitive action has not been fixed yet?
It is incredibly annoying, and working in the opposite way of everything else...
This not consistent with the phone app in which I can use enter as a line feed and use the send icon to send the completed message
I find the enter key for sending messages incredibly annoying. Why would anyone sane come up with that idea?
Please change that! It can't be that hard...

Suggest allowing the user to toggle behavior for enter/shift+enter functionality in settings. When unchecked it behaves as default, when checked functionality is reversed (ENTER = Next line SHIFT+ENTER = send).

I have to type replies in a separate editor because of the lack of this feature.

How ridiculous is it not to have this feature!
allow ctrl-enter or button to sent
have enter used for new line
better yet, have it available as a preference option

I mean really, how hard is it to have a setting for this in the "General" configuration section?
Block the the auto-send "feature". You would make more people happy than you would upset. Its no big deal to hit a button to send.
